I bought three smart timer valves recently. While two work fine, the third one leaks. That’s 67% reliability for brand new units. No acceptable.

Time Saver

I added this to my drip system and what a time saver. No longer having to go out and hand water. Easily cut 45 minutes to an hour off my morning routine. Great quality and works flawlessly with the app.

Best thing I could have purchased! My flower beds and garden have never looked so good. Everything is getting the proper watering and I do not have to go in and out to shut off the hose or move a sprinkler.

Great Sprinkler Control - but….
on July 21, 2023

I recently installed multiple Rachio controls at both of my houses with very good results. I also installed multiple hose controls for special hose lines that are temporarily being used to water freshly planted trees. All of the devices work exceptionally well. I especially like the manner in which they automatically adjust depending upon local weather continuing - it takes the guesswork out of proper watering Management.
The ONLY change I would like to see is an improvement in the software you interface with on their app…. Specially I find it slightly confusing and a bit awkward to manually control the system or a specific zone …The interface should be modified and updated so as to facilitate easier management.

OK, but needs better integration into the App
on July 21, 2023

We have a Rachio sprinkler controller and now three hose timers. The hose timers work as expected, and the Rachio app is decent. The problem is that the app treats the hose timers as completely separate devices from the sprinkler controller, and you cannot program the hose timers as part of a sprinkler schedule - they need their own. Allowing the hose timers to be integrated with the sprinkler zones would allow you to run the hose timer sequentially with other watering schedules. Without this feature, you are left trying to manually set the start/stop times for the hose so that it does not run at the same time as the sprinklers. It's more effort, and it partially defeats the purpose of having the smart timer in the first place.

I have attached the Smart

I have attached the Smart Hose timer to a pair of motion detection water sprinklers. This allows me to quickly turn on if I see any rabbits on my lawn. Also it’s great at scaring them off after dark

Difficult to set up
on July 22, 2023

We had high hopes for the hose timer, but the set up took multiple tries including chats and phone calls with the company. One operator could not figure out that the system cannot be shared with another in the account, so all parties that want to control the hose timer must use the same account, not shared. I got this answer from the Community Chat. Also, the hub (round black disc) needs to be inches from the hose timer, not within six feet as direction says, when doing initial set up. Once we figured all that out, it works like a charm. We can go on vacation with little worry that our patio garden is going to wither.
