Total Disappointment

My old Black & Decker (18yrs) was not holding a charge & I saw this one on sale at Lowe's so I bought it & sorry I did. No power at all when edging, won't even cut through semi-thick grass, line ran out twice while I was edging so had to stop & fix. It does not hold a candle to my late one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Absolute worst I've ever had.

Battery life is pathetic. . After 10 minutes of use, the battery puked on me. Unit is only 2 yrs old. What's with that? Taking 4 hrs + to charge it. The auto-string feed mechanism tanked as well. Have to wonder if B&D has a "quality control" dept? Do they actually field test their products for extended periods of time. Or, is the consumer the "quality control" dept? SAD. B&D is right alongside Toshiba in turning our poor quality products. NEVER AGAIN B&D.

Bought this to replace old Toro that had trimmed its last lawn.
Very easy to use. light (I'm 77 yrs old) yet powerful enough to my lawn.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don’t bother

This has got to be the worst black and decker weed trimmer ever. Battery performance is nearly non existent. If you have a large property don’t even think about going with this. 15 minute of life for both of the batteries you get. After about a years worth of seemingly fine performance the trigger to start the tool has failed. I thought black and decker was reputable but I don’t see how with this item. Very disappointed and will go with another brand in the future.

Easy to use string trimmer

I have had this for some time now, so this is not an off the cuff review. Sometimes the string gets caught in the self feed mechanism, and you just have to pop in a new one. Battery life is insufficient for an average size yard and for people who can't get out and trim every other day. I have friends who have one, and they've had to buy a second battery to be able to complete their yard in one day. My biggest problem is that the vibrations from it stress out my arm, and I can't use it for the rest of the day (my arm that is). Maybe that is specific to me, I really don't know what causes it. Positive side, it is very easy to use to trim, the line spools pop in and out really easily, I like that I don't have to bump it to feed it.
I would certainly purchase another product that uses the same battery. Easy switch out.

A perfect trimmer - love that it's battery

I bought this trimmer in May and have been using it 1-2 times a week ever since. It has been an excellent trimmer and does a good job on the edging as well. I haven't even had to replace the string yet! I couldn't be happier.
