I have 7 sony tvs, (new 950b) One hap HD amp and several computers.
Bought this because I thought it came with 10 movies . guess not!
Got connected once in 3 days. Says server is busy .
Netflix comes on all my tvs. This unit is bogus.
What is this playstation stuff? We need to send them all back directly to sony!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Good

The FMP-X10 is to me great improvement over the FMP-X1 , it has a lot more to offer ,streaming NETFLIX in 4k ,wireless connectivity, the second HDMI for audio works flawless, the settings are easier to use,but just as anything that is new the content for 4K is limited, but it is still better than anyone else right now.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Beware of connection limitations

I was appalled to find out from Sony that you can't run this sever through a new Sony 4K recover for audio/video switching. The only way to watch the 4K movies is through direct connection. This is a joke.
What's great about it: good picture quality on some videos
What's not so great: Can't run through a Sony 4k receiver
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Karmajoe. Thank you for your feedback here. As you might be aware, the FMP-X1 Media Player is a technologically advanced product that allows the transfer of 4K content securely to your TV. The process the Media Player uses for playback and control is more advanced than current AVR receiver technologies can support. As a result, Sony engineers included dual HDMI outputs to allow AVR receivers to continue to support the home theater experience without having to support the pass-through of the 4K video signal through the same HDMI. While not ideal, by sending separate signals for Audio and Video, the connectivity solution will still allow you the best in Audio and Video performance using your Sony AVR, 4K UHD Display, and Sony 4K UMD Media Player. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Content Quality is amazing but....

...just not enough in 4K yet. The server itself however works great. Hard to review the device itself because really it's the Video Unlimited interface you are dealing with

May Not Work With Your 4K TV!
on June 3, 2015

Please Sony, make this work with Vizio 4K TVs, I get a beautiful picture but no sound! It obviously was never tested with the many 4K sets before updating your webpage for this product to indicate support for non-Sony 4K TVs that are HDCP 2.2 compliant. I have tried 2 FMP-X10's and both refuse to play sound! I purchased this mainly to watch my Sony AX-33 4K XAVC S home videos - but no sound! I wanted to save my home 4K content on the hard drive and erase my SDXC cards for re-use. Now, I am back to having to play them from the camera connected directly to one of my TV's HDMI ports to get them with sound. They even fail to play sound back if I connect my AX-33 camcorder to the front USB port of the X10. Great picture - no sound!
No files play with sound...not h.264, h.265 (HEVC), AVCHD, XAVC S or even the sample MP3 music files under the Music Player App! Picture is great - but no sound on any of 5 HDMI 2,0 ports including 3 that are HDCP 2.2 compliant. Please fix the bug. All of my HDMI ports work fine with other devices including my AX-33 4K camcorder.

Hello SadUSee, I can see that this really upset you. Please try the following troubleshooting steps regarding this issue:
1. Kindly set the Audio output to PCM, please check this link for the steps: http://helpguide.sony.net/hv/fmpx10/v1/en/contents/TP0000525788.html?search=PCM

Glad I bought it!

With Google Fiber coming in, I got excited about UHD and bought a nice 60" class Sony 2013 Sony set. I had read about issues with getting content but I jumped in anyway because I don't think Sony will leave me hanging. And they didn't! The Media Player delivers great UHD content--even on my existing AT&T connection I can stream from Netflix and of course download purchase or rental movies.
The quality is stunning! The box was easy to install, worked properly right at the start. Only two issues caused me to deduct a star in my overall rating. First, downloads take a LONG time. This probably isn't the fault of the Media Player, but it seems to error out in the middle of long downloads more than it should, which then stops the download, requires that I press a button, then resumes. It's always recoverable, but it seems like a bug to me--although a minor one. The other issue I have is just an over-arching concern that I'll get left behind on new content. I hope user-upgradeable software later allows UHD streaming from YouTube and other providers, and I'd like to see more movies available for download or rental.
200+ movies is a good start, but it's surprising how many of those 200+ movies don't really seem that interesting! BUT--LOVE the spectacular picture, LOVE the ease of use, and I hope to see more material in the future. I'm very happy that I bought it when I did--which was very early in it's availability.

Ya know..... this thing was expensive and the movies are expensive too.
Sure... it's a cool gadget to have but really.... they need to have more and less expensive (or free!) movies.
