smokeless?

First, some criticisms... its heavier than I though it would be, not as portable as I'd like, but for sure is great for car camping. Even with chunk wood, it does smoke a fair amount at first, and is only "virtually" smokeless after it gets going and the smoke that is being produced is minimal enough to be burned off by the secondary air flow.
Criticisms aside, even when there is smoke, it has a tendency to flow the smoke straight up where it will mostly rise high enough to avoid being blown onto you as you sit around it. Yard trash will of course smoke more and its an excellent little pit for burning the trash from a small yard - twigs, sweet gum balls, etc. Good wood will still smoke from the beginning, including when you add logs.
Perhaps the best thing about it is how easily a fire is started. Its a breeze because of how well its protected from, um, breezes. Look, sometimes you go camping and you appreciate the work required to get a fire going. Its a skill you learn, gives you something to do (and an excuse to sit around quenching thirst). But as is the case more often with me, sometimes you'd rather light the fire and go do other things (around camp). Or at home, you'd just rather pull it out, put logs in and light, and sit. This is perfect for that. One star deducted because I think smokeless is a misnomer and I see its often sold with that term.

Didn't deduct a star for this, but really should come with the stand, not have to buy that as an extra.

Great fire pit

Great fire pit that is extremely portable and well made. My existing backyard pit created so much smoke we barely used it. The Ranger allows us to utilize the back patio and have a nice fire. It also creates a great flame for that fire aesthetic. It seems to maximize the amount of flame with the provided fuel as well.

Pretty Awesome for someone that was skeptical

I was a little nervous to spend so much money on a piece of stainless steel. But i took it out for a test drive to make a small fire and this stove impressed me a lot. The fires was roaring in a few minutes and it burned evenly throughout the night. This stove rocks and cleans up super easily.

I ordered the Ultimate Ranger Bundle but have only received the sticks, lid and cover. No stove or poker. I contacted Solo Stove on Friday to find out where the missing items are, but still have not heard back from them. I am still hopeful this review will get better.

Perfect Solution

After looking at the Solo Firepits for over a year, I finally decided to purchase the Ranger for our small patio space. First fire was just what we expected... easy to light, smokeless and beautiful flames. Best decision yet and we can’t wait to share our next fire with family and friends around it!

We love this stove it's not like other fire pits it is sturdy and will not rot out like other. So easy maintainand you have to get the roasting sticks my kids are constantly making s'mores and the sticks are perfect sturdy and easy to clean
