I've owned a Yukon for several months and just purchased and received the Ranger firepit. It is the same great quality that the Yukon is! Easy to set up right out of the box and includes the base ring and a very sturdy carry bag. It is light and seems like it will travel with ease. I had a roaring fire going in less than 10 minutes. I can't wait to take it camping or to the beach! Thanks solo stove for creating the perfect portable firepit!

Best backyard charcoal grill made
on March 20, 2020

The Ranger is marketed as a wood fuel fire pit. It is however an astonishingly advanced backyard charcoal grill.
A Solo Stove burns charcoal as efficiently as it burns wood, again with minimal smoke. The difference from a basic charcoal kettle is as profound as comparing a Vigilant wood stove to an open fireplace for heating a cabin. The efficiency means that one can use better charcoal. The range of flavors imparted by different charcoals is as varied as that of wine varietals; once one has control over this, there is no going back.
One's mental model of backyard charcoal BBQ is that one cook disappears into the backyard for the duration. Ideally, a charcoal fire is but one step in an involved meal. Great chefs have the dexterity of concert pianists, and the attention to workflow of a computer scientist. How can a home amateur minimize the work involved in a charcoal fire step, be it grilling fish, or roasting a few peppers? If one positions a Solo Stove where it presents no fire or fume hazards, and then lights a charcoal fire with a dose of 99% isopropyl alcohol that would delight a pyromaniac, it burns unattended with no residual evidence of the accelerant. The design makes uniquely efficient use of the alcohol, as it does with any fuel. Then time one's return for cooking, and the total stopwatch-measured investment in a charcoal cooking step is 5 to 10 minutes. Let that sink in; this is a game-changer.
The design folds and reflects heat energy onto the food far more effectively than any traditional charcoal kettle. This means it cooks better. Take the simple example of roasting peppers. One's likely experience is that removing the charred skin is extraordinarily tedious by hand, but washing the peppers at a sink loses most of the flavor. The answer is that one has never effectively roasted a pepper before; this is supposed to be easy. When I roast peppers over a Solo Stove, in twenty seconds the skin slips off with a knife, then the seeds, and I'm done. This is again a game changer.

Great fire pit, once going virtually no smoke, and windy days did not cause issues, no embers which was initial concern. I can see me buy as gifts. Very nice product
