First time owner of a solo stove! It's even better than I thought it would be! It takes only a few minutes to get the fire going and then boom, all of a sudden the fire is roaring! It's entrancing to watch. We used the small wood that is called Pinon and it fits perfectly. For being the smaller size it puts off great heat and minimal smoke. So happy with our purchase!

Great fire and perfect size

I really enjoy this fire pit. The flame is great and the smoke is definitely minimal. It makes for a perfect portable pit or for somewhere that you want a fire in smaller places. My only warning for people purchasing this is that regular logs will not fit to effectively reduce smoke per their instructions. They say to use wood chunks which are somewhat hard to find in my opinion. If you have an axe to split logs in half that works (we live in the city so not really feasible to chop wood), but otherwise be prepared to maybe order wood chunks online.

Smokeless in Seattle...

While I'm not really in Seattle, this fire pit definitely is smokeless. After a little smoke at the beginning, this fire pit provided great warmth for the four of us and most importantly, no smoke. I confidently sat up the pit at a minimal, but safe distance outside our front door. (easy access to the fridge) Ended up keeping the fire going for many hours because it was so delightful. Will definitely use our ranger all over the USA, who knows, maybe even in Seattle some day.

Solo Stove Ranger Review

Having owned many outdoor fire pits while living on the beach they never lasted more than a year. Salt exposure compounded by frequent rains and winds resulted in rust quickly. The heavy weight and lack of movability has also always been a negative. In Florida they are used primarily December through April after which it is stored for the next 7 months. This Ranger is a perfect fit! It is stainless steel thus no rust, light weight weighing approximately 21 pounds, is compact, east to move or travel with (which I have taken it the carrying case to the mountains in NC and best of all stores very nicely when the season ends. A outstanding product, made well - I rtae it 5 stars across all categories.

So simple, it's great!

The Ranger was the perfect size for a few friends in the backyard. Everyone loves it and wants one of their own. It's so lightweight, it was easy to loan it to a friend so she could sit outside with her mother on Christmas due to covid. The best part is you take it out of the box and you are ready to go! I got it with the stand and definitely think it was worth the additional cost.
