Excellent bonfire

First, the bonfire came packed in a sturdy cardboard box with two thick pieces of styrofoam, one on the top and one on the bottom. My box had a major gouge on the top but damage was absorbed but the styrofoam and the bonfire was unscratched.
Workmanship on the bonfire is first class. You can tell care was taken on the build. This thing looks very nice on my deck.
Speaking of my deck. The instructions don't exactly say it's safe to use on a deck but I have 2" pavers underneath the bonfire. The very bottom of the external vertical wall of the bonfire was very warm to the touch but could be touched by bare fingers after one hour of usage. So use on your deck at your own risk but I believe what they say about not scorching the grass underneath the bonfire.
Now on to the fire. I simply crumpled up some old newspaper, used a hand maul to chop up a split into kindling and piled the kindling and some small splits on the paper. I lit the paper and everything caught. It was so easy to get a fire going in the bonfire. Once I had some flames I added a few more splits and had a pretty nice fire going. You can really see the air draft at work. As advertised there was nothing but a small amount of ashes to dump out the next morning. The bonfire burns very efficiently and burns the wood completely. Once it gets going there is very little smoke.
The bonfire puts off a good amount of heat. My wife, son and I were able to eat dinner seated around the bonfire, wearing jeans and tee-shirts, after dark and with an air temp of about 55 degrees. Those slightly chilly spring and fall nights are just tailor made for the bonfire. I see many a family night on the deck around a toasty fire in our future. My son wants to invite his friends over to sit around the fire so it's all good. The bonfire puts off as much heat as one of those LP deck heaters but it's so much cooler to have an open fire and the flames are mesmerizing.
The bonfire comes with a carrying bag so you can transport it without worry. I plan on taking it on all of my car camping trips. The solo stove lite will be my backpacking stove. Both products are worthy of your hard earned cash.

Amazing

I had been wanting/needing a fire pit for chilling at the house for a while and the perfect storm had me ordering the solo stove. After a less time than Kickstarter usual, I received the bonfire. Lit it up the same night with the neighbors in -30° temps. Started up pretty quick and fire burned super hot. Now after my 8-10th fire, starting it is a piece of cake and everyone compliments the heat and lack of smoke. I still smell like I was at a campfire but the smoke chasing you around is seriously non-existent. Crazy. Glad I found this little gem and can't wait to see how it treats us all summer.

Hot and Hypnotic

The bonfire is very easy to light and generates a lot of heat. It's accepted at campgrounds, so you can have your fire where you want it. People are naturally drawn to the flame and the fire patterns really are hypnotic. It does go through a lot of wood, but delivers smoke free warmth in about a 4' radius from the stove. It's amazing how little ash remains from so much wood. It's expensive, but worth every penny and I look forward to it as a high point of each camping trip.

This has been one of our best purchases and worth every penny. We love the solo stove bonfire. It has helped get our family off the computers and tv and outside around the fire talking. It is great too as we are military and move a lot. The bonfire is easy to clean and easy to pack and move. It also shipped APO and came in less then a week which was a really nice treat. Thank you Solo Stove!

One tradeoff but Fantastic

I thought about putting in an expensive, fancy firepit on my patio/ backyard but I like having a flat multifunctional space for my kids to run around. This bonfire is perfect for that purpose.
The bonfire does several things better than any firepit. It burns more effectively given the double drum tech, leaving very little waste. You'll be shocked at what little remains after a fire. The design also shoots the smoke upwards, so more people can sit in a circle around it, avoids smoke getting in peoples faces. Also, the bonfire never burns the ground under it, preserving your lawn/ patio.
There is one downside that is unavoidable. While the bonfire produces incredible heat, the thermal radiation you get from a standard bonfire goes in multiple directions (wherever you see the light of the flame). The metal walls of this bonfire block some of that radiation. It's how it burns more efficiently, hence the trade off. So it doesn't feel quite as warm especially if you sit on the ground as maybe a standard bonfire. I would advise everyone sit on a chair or above the rim of the bonfire, easy fix. There is no way around this really but the tradeoff is minimal.
Overall, I think this is a great product. I've recommended it to all my friends. You can have that bonfire feel almost anywhere, without nearly all the hassles that come with a standard fire. No watery eyes from smoke, minimal waste. The inside and top rim do stain with a fire, but that doesn't affect the overall look/ appeal of the product

This is the best. I can't believe no one had never thought of this before. I love using my bonfire, and people love it when I do. Smoke is minimal, so we enjoy the fire more rather than spending time escaping the smoke. And I enjoy the portability and the carry bag it comes with, makes it so easy to take over friends houses or even camping.

Easy to use and produces a nice glow

We used our Bonfire tonight for the first time and it was easy to use and very quick to get the fire started. The fire put out a nice orange glow. The Bonfire also put a nice amount of heat out and everything burned pretty well with very limited amount of ash to clean up. My neighbors were very impressed with the unit.
