Lived up to hype

Finally got rid of cheap fire pit that rusted out last year and was looking for a new one for this year. Read reviews and watched YouTube videos of the solo bonfire and was skeptical as they seemed too complimentary. I did buy one in February and have been anxious to give it a try. Being in Michigan in March it has finally gotten warm enough (upper 20’s) to give it a try. Started it with minimal kindling and chunks of wood. Very impressed with how fast it started and got up to temperature. Once it got to full fire the flames were memorizing with very little smoke, almost like a natural gas fire (I work for a natural gas company so I am biased). Amazed how you could be in the heat plume without choking on smoke. The heat coming out of the fire was insane, it was basically like an intentional chimney fire. Did not plan on being out too long so did not feed fire a bunch but was very impressed with how efficient the combustion was and how throughly the wood burned. No coals left only minimal ash. Overall lived up to expectations but two suggestions for improvements would be an optional spark arrester screen and while one piece unit has advantages I would have liked a removable ash pan or even ability to disassemble for cleanup.

Best backyard fire thingy EVER!

OK. I admit. I've got a problem. I love campfires. I have the Solo Stove Lite. The Titan. The Campfire. And I was an early funder of the Bonfire project...
I just received my new Bonfire stove, and I have to tell you, this is the BEST backyard appliance ever! Who needs TV or cable when you have this? It's a beautiful piece of finely crafted stainless steel, and it produces smoke free heat and light.
This is now the highlight of my day. Sure. Work hard. Earn money. Pay your bills... But nothing is better than coming home to a cold beer and a warm fire in the backyard... This is the best thing I've spent money on in years. It's an order of magnitude better than I was expecting.. It's a beast! It's a thing of beauty. I can see years of enjoyment with this. High tech meets Zen...
Thank You Solo Stove People!

Solo Stove Quality!

I just received my Solo Stove Bonfire from the Kick Starter Campaign. Packaging is excellent! Build quality is excellent! Much larger than I expected which is a good thing. Logs purchased from the local grocery store fit in with room to spare. The included soft case is nice quality, its easy to insert the stove and the carry handles work well. I couldn't be more pleased. After I bought in to the campaign I went to their website and purchased two other smaller Solo Stoves. I wish every manufacturer took this much pride in their product and workmanship. A+ all day long.

I just received my Solo Bonfire through the Kickstarter campaign. I was pleasantly surprised: the Bonfire is much larger than I anticipated. The carry case is good quality. The Bonfire seems strong and sturdy. I wish there were camping accessories designed for the Bonfire: the grill and the tripod to cook would be awesome. As to Bonfire itself - I like it a lot.

Urban Bonfires

Being practically smokeless; I purchased this with the intention of using it in a neighborhood of Chicago area. And boy, it sure works. Minimal smoke with roaring flames. This thing burns hot and bright.
It's very strange when you light your first fire in it: it appears almost as if it were a gas fireplace. Certainly not the case. It even enthralled my neighbors.
Just be sure you have enough wood, as it seemingly burns wood slightly more quickly than a traditional fire pit. Either way, worth it for the extra light and heat.

stole the show at the klondike!
on February 2, 2017

I took a Bonfire to our Klondike Derby (Boy Scouts) this weekend, and spent the whole time talking it! Every patrol that came to our station had some adults tagging along, and they all came over to the fire while the boys did their compass activity. Luckily, I had assistants to run the compass part, because everyone wanted to know where the stove came from.
The fire gave off plenty of heat (we were in 30-degree weather) and very little smoke, which really impressed those of us sitting around it as well as the folks who stepped up to have a look. My District Executive came over and said it was the coolest fire pit he'd ever seen, and took a picture that went up on the FB.
I brought my own hardwood to burn, and we had a fire for about 5 hours. We stopped feeding it about 90 min before the end of the event, and we had only a small handful of coals at the end, which we dumped out onto doused ground, poured more water over, and buried (Leave No Trace!). There was almost no ash. I had set the unit off the ground on three 2x4s, and they were not even brown, so the bottom insulation seems to work great.
The carrying bag made it easy to pack in and out- very light, but worked better with two people over the 1/2 mile down the trail to our site.
We're going to be asking our Troop Committee to get one for the Troop Trailer!
