Convenient and comfortable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I exclusively pump for my 10 month old. I have tried several different pumps and the Pump in Style Hands-free pump is one of my favorites.
Pros of the pump:
-Quality: the pump and cups are well made and by a respectable brand. The cups didn’t leak and held plenty of milk. They are easy to assemble, just make sure you use the O ring when switching cup sizes.
-Comfort: the pump came with 2 different cup sizes, the 21mm cup fit me best with no pain or pinching. The cups fit easily into my bra.
-Battery Life: great battery life, it takes 8 AA batteries, I like that you have the option to plug the pump in or use the battery.
-Cleaning: the flange cup only has 3 parts (not including the O ring because you don’t have to remove it every time). It is super easy to disassemble and wash.
-Suction: This pump is very strong and has amazing suction power. I was able to get more milk with this pump than the hands free pump I was using previously.
-Hands-free Capability: I love that it’s hands-free, I am able to do other activities such as dishes or read books to my kids without worrying about them knocking the pump off.
Cons of this pump:
-Noise: the pump is fairly loud, it would be hard to pump discreetly.
-Portability: the pump is large and you have to be stationary when pumping.
In my opinion the pros definitely outweigh the cons and I would definitely recommend this pump to any pumping mom. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this pump to review!

Comfortable Simple and Efficient

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you to Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this breast pump to test out. Since I already love Medela products, I was very excited to try out this new hands free pump and I have nothing but positive things to say. First, the pump is very easy to clean and put together. I love that you also have the option to make it a single pump since I only pump on one side at a time to mimic how my baby nurses. The instructions were clear and easy to follow in setting it up. The pump itself was SO comfortable! I was easily able to find a suction strength that effectively removed milk but also felt comfortable to me. I love the simplicity of the functions of this pump. Although the cups are not very discreet, I love that they can fit right in my normal nursing or sleep bra. I normally use the Medela manual hand pump and I was able to remove as much milk and as quickly as my hand pump which I found impressive. Once I was done, the cups sit nicely on the counter and pour easily into the storage bags. No crying over spilled milk over here! This hands free pump is everything I could want in the simplicity, comfort, and efficiency of a pump, and I’m excited to continue using it!

Hands free but could use improvements

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel but my opinions are my own. I've used the Medela PIS pump since my first baby in 2018 back when it was not a closed-loop system. With my second child, I used my PIS as my primary pump and purchased a fully in-bra style pump as a hands-free, mobile option. So I was excited to try this pump since it's a combo of the two styles I've used most frequently. Overall, I'd like to note that I don't like the actual pump as much as I liked the older version of the PIS. It's much louder, it literally vibrates on the table, and I don't like that I really have no idea what level suction I am on because there's no markings/indicators (just up or down buttons). The noise and vibration is a huge negative for me as I pump in the middle of the night in the same room as my husband and baby. The tubing is also another negative for me - while I like that you can plug one side of the tubing into the other side for single pump action, the tubing itself is SO stiff. I'm not sure if it will soften over time, but the stiffness makes it difficult to store and to get it to twist and turn the way you want. If you can get past all of that, the suction and rhythm of the pump is quality. It provides more power and milk out-put consistently than my other brand in-bra pump. The thing I like the most is that there are only 3 pieces to clean for the collection cups. I tend to pump more than 5oz during certain sessions and I can collect a little over 5oz in each unlike my other brand. The collection cups are comfortable to wear and don't put any unnecessary pressure causing clogs. I like that i can pump one side while nursing on the other because these cups hide in my bra, dont spill easy, and aren't gigantic. That feature is the selling feature in my opinion because those middle of the night feedings/pumping sessions can be combined into one session for me! The length of the flange is long enough for my elastic nipples that my output is the same as with the flange and bottle option with Medela (it's longer than the other in-bra brand i use which caused issues with output on the other brand). One thing that is inconvenient with the collection cups is that the markings on it are not per ounce - there are 4 lines but the 4th line indicates 5oz (see pics). I have no idea why Medela wouldn't just do 5 lines like they do on their bottles. Also, the lines are etched in instead of a black line so it makes it near impossible to see what volume you have when you are wearing them. If you don't care about knowing how much you pumped until the end, then it's not a big deal but sometimes I'm only pumping to relieve an engorged side and only want to pump 2-3oz. Overall, I think Medela has to make a few changes for this pump to be worthy of recommendations to other moms. But if you can get past the negatives noted above, I'd say it could be a useful pump to have.

Decent pump but not my favorite
on August 26, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product as a part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I’m currently breastfeeding my fourth baby, using a hands free pump for the first time.
This pump was relatively comfortable and had good suction, and my milk yield was comparable to what I get with my usual pump.
That being said, the cups are bulky and the pump itself is too big for me to consider it portable. It has to be plugged in to the wall or a separate battery pack that takes 8 AAs, so if you are hands free and stationary it works well, not so much if you want to be able to move around. I wish the battery was at least rechargeable. The sound of the pump is moderate - not super loud but not subtle.
The parts are easy to put together and clean and I really like that each cup only has three pieces. It’s also nice that none of the pieces are tiny - they fit in the dishwasher well and they’re not easy to lose.
I wouldn’t dissuade a friend from getting this pump for use in an office or on the couch at home, but it’s not for someone looking to pump on the go.

Hands free but not mobile
on August 26, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this breast pump from the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
Overall, I did like this pump. I was able to pump basically the same amount as my primary pump which was great. It was also very easy to assemble and clean which I also liked. The cups were easy to sit up and would not spill easily either.
I don't have a fanny pack or anything to hold the pump and battery, so while this did make me hands free, it did not make me mobile because I still had to be plugged into the wall. If I used the battery pack, it was quite a lot to haul around. This would work well if you wanted to pump while working on the computer.

The Ultimate Hands Free Breast Pump
on August 26, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a new mom, I can confidently say that the brand new hands-free breast pump I recently discovered courtesy of the Stellar Product Testing Panel has revolutionized my breastfeeding journey. This innovative device not only allows me to multitask efficiently but also expresses milk exceptionally well, all while ensuring a hassle-free cleaning experience. Here's my review of this game-changing breast pump.
First and foremost, the hands-free feature is an absolute game-changer. It has completely transformed the way I approach daily tasks. With the pump securely attached, I can now freely move around, tend to household chores, or even work on my laptop while expressing milk. This newfound freedom has made my life so much easier, allowing me to make the most of my time and accomplish various tasks simultaneously.
The pump's ability to express milk effectively is another standout feature. Its powerful yet gentle suction mimics a baby's natural feeding pattern, enabling efficient milk extraction and maintaining a comfortable pumping experience. The pump's adjustable settings allow me to customize the suction level according to my comfort, providing a personalized and optimal pumping session every time.
Cleaning the pump is a breeze, which adds to its overall convenience. The device consists of minimal parts, making disassembly and reassembly quick and effortless. The materials used are of high quality and easily washable, ensuring a hygienic pumping experience.
The pump's design and construction are well thought out. It is compact, lightweight, and discreet, making it easily portable for on-the-go pumping. The noise level is impressively low, allowing me to pump discreetly without disturbing others or compromising my privacy. The intuitive controls make it user-friendly, even for first-time moms like myself.
In conclusion, this brand new hands-free breast pump is a true game-changer for multitasking moms. Its ability to express milk effectively, ease of cleaning, and convenient design make it an invaluable asset in any breastfeeding journey. I highly recommend this pump to all mothers seeking a hassle-free and efficient pumping experience. Embrace the freedom it offers and enjoy the precious moments with your little.

Gentle Compact and Overall Lovely Pump
on August 26, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Medela Pump in Style Hands-free is a cut above its predecessor and my new favorite pump. I had the regular Medela which resembles a large black purse and was slightly annoyed with how much space it took up and how even the bigger cups hurt my nipples. This Hands-free pump is so lightweight and gentle that I keep checking to see if it's doing anything and then I'm amazed to see I've already collected a full container of milk! I absolutely LOVE the battery pack because it means I can sit in whatever chair I want and not worry about how close I am to an outlet or whether the cord is going to trip one of my older children. The hands-free feature is great because I can eat, drink, read an e-book, and do stuff with my older kids while pumping. It also doesn't take very long at all, so I think these collection cups are much more efficient somehow. I really wish I had had this pump with my previous babies. Definitely the nicest pump I've ever used. The only thing I can consider a negative is that it is hard to get the bottom tab to align properly with the hole when pushing the two cup parts together. It still clicks into place and does not leak, so I've given up on perfect alignment and accepted that it works fine if I just blindly snap it together. But my inner persnickety old lady wants them to line up properly. Oh well. I didn't think the 24mm cups would fit my 40DD breasts, but they are so comfortable and gentle that they seem to fit just fine, probably because the machine isn't sucking a significant portion of the nipple down a long plastic tube. This suction is much more like what you experience with an actual baby. I definitely recommend the Medela Pump in Style Hands-free and am very grateful to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending me one in exchange for my honest review.

Not my favorite choice as a busy mom
on August 26, 2023
Posted by: Anonymous
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this breast pump to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. When I found out I was going to try this hands free pump I was pretty excited as many people I know have raved about Medela and because there are so many cups joining the market these days, I really expected them to set a new bar. Unfortunately this was not the case for me.
To start the cups are not bad, but they’re also not great. I like that none of the pieces are small and easy to misplace or forget to put on. The spout was easy to empty almost all the expressed milk, but this was also a major con for me as I went to pick up my crying baby from the pack and play while pumping with less than 2 ounce of milk on each side thinking it shouldn't be a problem, but milk spilled everywhere. To be fair I may have been expecting too much as a similar cup I own only spills if you forget to close the lid or you don't realize you overfilled it (which came out to 7 ounces). The shape is also not very discreet unless you’re wearing a baggy shirt. Although with this pump you’re not exactly going to be discreet anyways as it's loud and just a lot to carry around. I’m honestly a little confused about how the pump in style design is so popular as it has so many inconvenient features. This pump is rather large for carrying around the house while taking care of a baby and toddler. It has an odd ribbon loop attached for carrying only. Then if you want to not be attached to the wall you need to use 8AA batteries and then plug that battery pack into the side of the pump to carry around too. If it had come with a special bag for holding all of this it may not have bothered me as much. I tried some bags I had around the house and they were uncomfortable to wear across the body between the overly protruding cups so the only suitable option was wearing it over one shoulder where it would then swing all over if you needed to pick something up which is highly likely to happen with 1 baby let alone more kids and any tasks you're trying to do around the house which is likely why you would want wearable cups instead of just a hands free bra. Maybe a large fanny pack would work ok?
As a part time working mom who drives all over the state to see clients I love the idea of a pump that can be portable and also plug into the wall, I just think it could be done much better. The first time I used the battery pack I completely forgot to keep track of how many sessions I was able to use one set of batteries for (I think it was 4, but can’t really remember) so after swapping in some new batteries I started to count except somehow after only one session it wouldn’t turn on again with the brand new batteries which just added to my disappointment. If I had been using this while working I may not have had time or an option to get batteries during my work day. Other disappointments include no timer or visible suction level either on the device or through an app, painful vacuum that expressed less than my other hands free pump despite being the same flange size and needing to use this one until it timed out.
Personally I think every pump has its own pros and cons and there is not a perfect one out there so you have to weigh out what you personally need and what you’re willing to deal with. For me this has way too many cons, I do plan to use as a back up if I don’t have time to wash or charge other parts and need to be away from the wall, but would not particularly recommend especially as a primary pump as I think it would cause my supply to dip.
