Hands Free Medela Pump in Style

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the hands free Medela Pump in Style as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Overall, I think this is a quality pump. I really like how many settings it has, how comfortable it is, and how effective it is. I didn’t necessarily like the cups; they don’t hold as much volume as I typically produce and the hard plastic isn’t preferable to silicone for me. The hands free feature is awesome, but unlike other brands, this one is certainly not portable. The motor is large and heavy with no way to carry it around. It’s also not the most quiet. For pumping purposes it’s a great pump, but I couldn’t see myself multitasking a whole lot with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Medela Pump in Style Hands free breast pump from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and I have mixed feelings about it. I really REALLY wanted to love this product as I have heard great things about their other products, but honestly I wasn’t super impressed. The name of the product is a little misleading; it is not truly hands-free. There is a motor with tubing connecting the collection cups. Carrying around the motor can be awkward because it is shaped kind of weird. It doesn’t really fit in your pocket and the tubing isn’t long enough to put it inside a bag or something. Also, it makes a weird noise. It’s not super loud, but definitely loud enough to notice and hard to ignore. The part that I really disliked the most though was how you can’t see how long you have been pumping or the level you’re pumping on, and the suction can be painful. I was expecting to get so much more milk then I did after a 30 minute pump session. This pump gets the job done, but it’s definitely not the best.

Good pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, this pump works well but is a bit bulky. As a bartender, I am unsure that I'd be able to use this while working however this pump would be great for somebody that works at a desk or from home. I was able to use it while sitting and playing with my babies but it can get tricky if you don't have the right bra to hold things in place. The pump was comfortable and suction was good but not as strong as my hand pump so I did not express as much as I normally would in a 10 minute period. Nice pump and works well but not made for everyone. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this breast pump.

Needs some improvement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been a trusted Medela breast pump consumer since 2014. I trust their products and would recommend this brand to anybody! Unfortunately, I did not have that much success with my newest medela pump on the market. Thank you so much to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with the Medela Pump in Style Hands free! I was a little intimidated to try this pump as I have never tried a hands free option. After getting the hang of it, the one thing I didn’t enjoy about this pump in particular was being confined to the wall. This pump does come with an on the go portable battery pack, but there were more times than once when I tried to use my pump outside of the home and it would not work. The batteries would come out of the compartment and it wouldn’t make the pump turn on when the batteries were put back. I found it to be extremely fragile and it became inconvenient when I relied on my pump to work, and it wouldn’t turn on. I had even reached out to the brand and received a replacement because I thought the one I had was defective, but the same thing was happening with the new one as well. The Medela customer service team was really helpful! I wish this pump did not need to be plugged in or need the battery pack, because besides those two factors, the pump itself is amazing. I really loved the cups and the ease I had pouring the milk out. I had great milk output with this pump and enjoyed using it, I just wish it was easier with less stuff needed to make it work on the go.

In no world is this "whisper quiet"

It is incredibly loud and in the beginning of my journey, this would have been an issue because I was pumping all through the night. Luckily I've gotten to the point that I only pump once and it's in the morning, otherwise this product would have been a complete waste of money. Otherwise, I'd say the product checks the other boxes you want it to hit. Also, in case you are unsure, the pump does to be plugged in work, but does have a "portable" option for a battery pack, too. But the pump and battery pack are rather large/heavy so it isn't something you'll be likely to do much with,.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Suction nearly gone after a couple months

I pump once or twice a day on average and usually not with this pump as I have others (wearables + a spectra s2). So this pump has barely gotten used and yet the suction is just about gone now, with the wall adaptor. I've tried with replacement tubing and membranes with no difference. If I had bought instead of receiving this pump through insurance, I'd be mad. Instead I'm just disappointed.

Works great! Until it doesn’t…

I got this pump through my insurance and loved how I could pump hands free. I also loved how it comes with a battery pack, so I didn’t have to pump while plugged into a wall. But also had the option to plug into an outlet when needed. When I returned to work, and began using it a few times a week, I started experiencing issues with the battery pack randomly stopping. Then, even when I’d be plugged into the wall, the pump would randomly stop pumping also. I’m very disappointed because I loved this pump, but couldn’t risk my pump randomly not working. I have never dropped or mishandled my pump knowing the importance of it. I don’t understand how it could stop working within 5 months. It still turns on, but will randomly shut off during a pumping session.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
