Full of regret

We bought this mixer because it has (1) Auto Sense technology so it can sense when butter is properly creamed and egg whites are properly whipped, and (2) a built-in scale so you can weigh ingredients right in the mixer bowl. Neither feature works. Auto Sense can only be run through the app. We were very bummed about having to download an app to use the mixer, and in addition, the app is buggy. It was difficult to get the mixer connected. We ended up spending forty minutes on the phone with GE’s Wifi Team, trying and retrying under their guidance. We normally don’t need this kind of support, because my husband builds software for a living. Now that we can finally see the app, we know that the Auto Sense feature only works with GE’s recipes. That’s a total dud as far as I’m concerned. I want to use my recipes. As for the integrated scale, it just plain doesn’t work. You have to zero it out before you start weighing, and I have to press the zero button as many as five times to get it to actually zero out. Then, when I add ingredients, the weight bounces around from 220 grams to 210 grams to 245, 230, back to 210. If I can get it to settle on one weight, it’s not even accurate. I weighed my sugar on my trusty scale, which said 250 grams. But when I put it in the GE Profile Mixer, its scale landed (eventually) on 235 grams. That’s going to change the texture of the cookies for sure. I rue the day I bought this mixer. Now we are stuck in a customer service loop with GE. To their credit, they do have a well-staffed customer service toll free Lin. But all I want is to get rid of this thing and put my old stand mixer back on the counter. Maybe this product will be ready for prime time in a few years. Not now. Do not buy.

It has potential… but it’s not all I hoped for

This review is after a month of using the mixer. I have another 7qt stand mixer for my main mixing needs, a 3.5qt mixer for smaller batches, and a 1.5qt mixer for even smaller mixing needs. I was preparing to buy an 8qt mixer until I saw this mixer on CES 2023 coverage. I have a home bakery and specialize in macarons and macaron cakes. I’ve been baking macarons for over 10 years and they’re still finicky as they’ve ever been; though I’ve eventually learned to minimize the mishaps. When I first saw the CES reviews, I was in love. I have a 25+yr career in technology and love geeking out so I was especially intrigued by this revolutionary auto-sense feature! But more importantly, I was hoping this would help me bake more. I have a debilitating nerve condition and I was hoping this mixer would take over at least a few actions of reaching up to the mixer, adjusting speed, pausing and restarting the mixer, etc. Physically, it’s a sleek gorgeous look. It’s insanely heavy to the point where I can’t even budge it in the slightest (I generally can’t lift anything more than 10 pounds). But the weight isn’t a big deal as I have no intention of moving this. It has a permanent home on a mobile kitchen cabinet that I use for all my baking needs. I was extremely disappointed to try it for the first time only to find out this auto-sense feature is only available for provided recipes. And despite the CES video reviews explicitly displaying macarons, there were no macaron recipes. I tried using the meringue cookie recipe to at least get the auto-sense working on the meringue part of macarons, which technically it did, but remember me mentioning learning how to minimize mishaps? Well, in order to do that, I need to use different specific speeds at specific time intervals. I was hoping I would be able to create my own “auto-sense” recipes but I do not know if that will ever be available. I’ll keep my hopes up and I will keep this mixer as it truly is very powerful. I do hope the mixer eventually allows me to program my own recipes. If it does, I would likely get a 2nd one and potentially a 3rd. But if not, then eh, I can’t say this would be my favorite mixer.

Probably a bit more tech than needed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mixers can be pretty simple. If you're comparing this to a normal stand mixer, it can do those things. The only drawback I see with this one is its harder to get the bowl/attachments on and off because the head doesn't tilt back. But then there's the smart features. The scale, okay, easy enough, but how often are you going to need to change the speed or turn it off from your phone or Alexa? At some point maybe there will be enough features to make a "connected" mixer do something really cool, just not sure all the bells and whistles here do enough just yet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] WOW this mixer is fantastic! It's next level features blow my mind! Like wifi connectivity, Alexa and controlling it straight from your phone! My favorite feature is the built in scale, it makes measuring a breeze! The speed even adjusts depending on the batter. I love the guided recipes. It was so easy to setup but keep in mind its very heavy so you may want to find a permanent home for it on your counter. Overall a quality, beautiful machine that will have me baking like a pro for years to come!

Great Mixer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so impressed with this stand mixer. The mixer is very heavy. I was easily able to connect it to my WIFI to enable all of the smart features. Having a scale that is built directly into the mixer is a wow factor for sure. I never thought I would use it as often as I do, now I find myself using it all the time. I can't wait to keep learning all the great things it is capable of. I have received a lot of compliments on the overall appearance of the mixer, as it looks very nice my kitchen.

Sick new mixer

This thing is a crazy machine, can hear that brushless motor as it winds up. Very happy with the purchase. Excited to see new app updates to make the appliance updates more seamless, as well as a more user-friendly interface.

Game Changer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If stand mixers were luxury apartments, this one would be the penthouse! This mixer has been modernized for the home chef, complete with all the bells and whistles you didn’t realize you needed, but now, you can’t live without them. I thought when I got this mixer that my favorite feature would be the Alexa (or Google) controls, but the low key best feature of this mixer is the built-in scale. Gone are the days of dirtying up multiple measuring cups and bowls- everything can be done in the mixer. This is so important, especially with baking, because baking is best when done by weight, not by volume. I personally think that the mixer does a better job incorporating ingredients in when mixing; I feel like there’s less to scrape off the sides of the bowl. This is a big/heavy unit, but it’s solid and built well. I like the way it looks, too. My new favorite kitchen gadget!
