A Terrific Little Yard Saw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have several Worx Power-Share tools, and I love this little saw. I bought this along with the extension pole - an electric chain saw at the end of a 12 ft pole- what could possible go wrong? I have to say, by itself, this saw is light and easy to wield. It cuts quickly (I have only cut limbs about 4" diameter), and surprising cleanly. The assembly directions could be clearer, and you have to read them carefully (which for a chain saw, I suppose you should anyway). Don't forget to add the bar oil. There is a statement to this effect, and oil is not included. Attaching to the extension pole, while a 1-person job, is much more easily accomplished with a second pair of hands. Attached to the pole, the whole assembly is a bit un-wieldly, and I found myself knocking into this as I maneuvered into position to cut. I made several tree-thinning cuts on an oak tree with the pole collapsed, then several more at full extension. After several cuts, I noticed the chain was a bit sloppy, and a quarter turn of the tensioning knob fixed it, and continued cutting up fallen limbs. Use an abundance of caution: the saw on the pole is heavy, not particularly well balanced, awkward to move it about, and you can really see the bar from below. But, I made all the cuts quickly, cleanly, without loss of life limb or other appendages. Changing length of the pole requires removal of the battery first.
Overall, I love this addition to my gardening arsenal, and look forward to finding more uses for it.

Your feedback helps us to improve a great deal! Bar and chain oil are no longer included with our chainsaw's. However, we recommend standard bar and chain oil; Grade: ISO VG32. The bar and chain oil can be found at your local hardware store. It is recommended that you tension the chain every 4-5 cuts. The chain should be tight enough to fit securely around the bar while leaving appropriate give for tensioning. We are happy to hear that you have been pleased overall with the performance of your new WORX chainsaw.

I have not been able to use this saw yet since it is winter here. I will say a guy at work put the bar and chain on for me and it was extremely easy and he wasn’t impressed with the auto tensioning. It’s light weight, and even if I can’t use it for what I want, it will still come in handy for trimming tree and cutting up branches that fall from trees that are too big to break up. Hoping to also be able to take it camping. Only reason for rating at 4 stars is I have not actually run the saw yet. But I have high hopes!

I got this chainsaw as part of the pole saw combo a while back for basic tree trimming. But twice now I’ve had occasion to use it as a “real” chainsaw and it hasn’t let me down. I ran through a couple batteries to get there but you can see in the photos most recently I was able to safely chop up a 50’ Leland Cyprus that had come down and was resting on a fence.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this recently and I think it's okay for my purpose; certainly not powerful enough for large limbs, but I can no longer 'pull the cord' to start a gasoline powered unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have gas chainsaws but this is the best thing that ever happen for light and medium duty work....No gas to mix and pulling to start....Much safer to use then a gas chainsaw.......you let of the trigger and it's off and you can set it down without causing harm to someone or damaging the saw.......plus the price was right.

I bought this a year ago with hopes this old ranch gal could save some $ with work I can physically still do. I have lots of Worx tools but this one doesn’t just fall short.. it hasn’t performed at all as it is advertised.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Depending on the type of wood being cut, the heat that is produced can cause the chain to stretch. It is recommended that you tension the chain every 4-5 cuts. To tension the chain, simply secure it around the sprocket and bar so that the chain is seated then pull the bar forward (outward) to create a snug fit. The chain should be tight enough to fit securely around the bar while leaving appropriate give for tensioning. Take caution that you do not overtighten the chain. Please also ensure the chain is on properly according to the diagram on the bar, as it shows which way the teeth need to be. You want to also ensure there are no kinks in the links.
