Initially hesitant but now I love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was cautiously optimistic when I received this pump through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Handsfree sounded great but I really liked my traditional double electric pump and wondered if this one would be as effective and really that much more convenient.
Great news, this pump is fabulous! I find it to be nearly as effective as my standard double electric pump and it really is discreet and portable. The capacity of 5oz per side is occasionally too small for me and requires I pause and empty the cups before finishing, but in most scenarios the capacity is sufficient.
The pump cups fit in my regular underwire with molded cup nursing bras. While you can tell that I’m wearing it because all of a sudden my chest size grew several cups, it is subtle and could be missed if I were in the car or had a baggy jacket on. The pump itself fits easily in the pocket of a jacket or hip pocket of loose pants (not my tight jeans). The device is fairly quiet but definitely can be heard by those around.
I find myself reaching for this pump first now that I am back to work so that I can continue typing and making phone calls (you could hear the pump on my cellphone but not when I use a headset). Clean-up is also easier since each side has only 3 pieces. The cups have volume markings and easily pour from the top into storage bags. The display is easy to use and the settings are adjustable enough to get good output.
Overall, despite my initial hesitancy, I really like this pump and find it gives me back time in my day. Favorite of all is that it’s easier to pump while working because it no longer requires I stop work for 15-20 minutes each time and therefore I pump more regularly, keeping my supply up.

Great for Work

I received the Medela Freestyle Hands-free Double Electric Breast Pump from Stellar Product Testing Panel just in time to go back to work after maternity leave. I teach elementary school and during the times that there are no students in my classroom I often need to be walking around my classroom or in meetings. This pump allows me to do these parts of my job and pump at the same time. People hardly notice the pump! I have surprised many coworkers who will say, "Wait you're pumping right now?" They don't even realize I have the pump on and can't hear the sound of the pump. Many coworkers have commented what a game changer the pump would have been when they were pumping many years ago.
I was slightly concerned about how much milk I would get from such a small machine, but I had no reason to worry! With each pumping session I am happy to see how much milk I get. It collects in a cup that fits right into my bra and shirt. The milk is easy to pour into storage.
Finally, because of the size I am able to put the pump pieces into my cooler bag and then in the refrigerator in order to protect from bacterial growth. The pieces are easy to clean and dishwasher safe making my nighttime routine easier. I highly recommend this product, especially to anyone returning to work who hopes to continue breastfeeding.

Love This Thing

My baby is 5 months old and since I started introducing bottles, he has become a lazy nurser. Since he hasn’t been nursing as much I have had to pump a lot more often and that had me sitting and being unproductive for so much time throughout my days. I also noticed my supply was suffering from not always being able to pump when I needed to.
Not only is this pump convenient, but it works so well! I am able to pump just as much, if not more than what I was getting with my traditional pump. The set up and everything is so easy and intuitive that I didn’t even need to look at the manual to do it.
The cup sizes are great. When I wear them under a hoodie or a flannel, it is hardly noticeable. I even used this pump during my 4 year old’s birthday party and no one knew until I placed the motor on the table.

While I know Medela is known for their quality pumps, this new pump has really exceeded my expectations. What I love about this product is the ability to be totally discreet about pumping while going about my every day errands. It’s so compact, very lightweight and it slips right into your nursing bra, making it easy to use and handsfree while preparing dinner or doing things around the house. I have an 8 month old who is constantly tugging at me, so being able to keep it all under my shirt is incredibly convenient. There are only three parts to clean and assemble, so it makes the process really quick and easy. I really have nothing but positive things to say about this pump, I love all the upgrades Medela has made. This new pump is a game changer and I’ll personally be recommending this to pump to new moms!

Medela Hands Free Breast Pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the new Medela Hands Free Breast Pump as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I'm so glad that I received this product. As I am currently exclusively pumping for my third child, this product has been extremely helpful and convenient. I have two toddlers and having a breast pump that is completely hands free is amazing. It gives me the freedom to get things done around the house like washing dishes and folding laundry and allows me to play with my other children all while still pumping. Before this pump, I would stop to pump and then return to what I was doing so this is definitely a time saver. Super easy to use and absolutely love the simplicity of the pump with such few parts to assemble. It is very easy to clean and fits under pretty much any maternity bra so it was a bonus not having to purchase anything specific to the pump. The only thing I did notice that was that I did have to use a slightly higher suction level (6 instead of 5) and a few additional minutes (no more than than 2 addition minutes) in order to pull the same amount of milk I would while using my other medela pump, however it is well worth the additional few minutes in order to be completely hands free. If I had the choice, as a new mom or to replace an old pump, I would highly recommend this product. Plus, medela has amazing customer service and a great warranty on this and all their products which is a bonus! This pump is definitely part of my on-the-go bag and is absolutely a gift I would buy for a baby shower.

Total Game Changer

I have used other pumps before but the freestyle handsfree double breast pump is by far my favourite one to use. The pump was very easy to initially set up and connect to the app to track my pumping sessions.The convenience of being able to do other things wile pumping was a game changer for me. I have a toddler and 5 month old, this pump allowed me to play with my toddler, clean my house and get ready for the day while pumping. The suction is comparable to my plug in pump (Medela- Instyle) and better than other handsfree pumps I have tried. The cups are a reasonable size for me, I typically pump 4-6oz per side per pump. I used this pump several times around other moms and they all commented on how quiet it was, which allows for discreet pumping sessions. My favourite feature was the snap closure, even in my tired stupor I always knew the cups were sealed properly because there is an audible click when you put the cups together. When on the go I just tucked the pump in my hoodie pocket, it does have a string but I found it to be a bit of an awkward length. Overall, this pump has changed my desire to pump because I don't feel tied down while doing so.

Freestyle Hands Free Double Electric Breast Pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thoroughly enjoyed using this hands free breast pump. I am a second time mom and have only ever used a pump that required me to hold it in place. Having my hands to do things like folding laundry, answer emails or pick up my crying baby was a game changer. Other features that I loved that my old pump lacks:
- came with 2 sizes of breast shields to help find the right fit. This, and the anatomical shape of the shields made for comfortable fit on my breasts
- the backlight on the controller was nice for pumping in the dark. It is also very compact making it easy to hook onto a belt loop or put in my pocket
- the cups stayed put in my bra as advertised (which to be honest I was skeptical about in the beginning). I don’t think I could get away with wearing it in public but I would feel comfortable pumping at home in front of close family or friends.
I wish the cups came with a plug or cap so that when I removed them from my bra, I wasn’t afraid of spilling milk. Fortunately, they have a sturdy bottom so I was able to place them upright on a flat surface securely.
Thank-you Stellar Product Testing Panel for the breast pump. I don’t think I could go back to my old one now.

Medela freestyle portable pump

The Medela freestyle hands free double electric pump was an amazing pump! The suction has multiple strengths which is an important feature for me as some portable pumps do not have enough suction.

It has only 6 parts total to clean!!! Putting together the pumps took seconds not minutes. This made hand washing and sterilizing a dream! It also dried really quickly which when I needed to pump every couple hours I wasn’t struggling with parts being wet.
The hard plastic makes putting on and fitting the pump very easy, no fiddling with the malleable flanges. I primarily used my pump at work and while away from my little guy. I am an outpatient nurse so I used it at my desk on break. I sit really close to my coworkers and not a single coworker knew I was pumping. It is very quiet, which is great for discretion. I loved that the battery is separate from the pumps so they are not as heavy and bulky. The shape fit perfectly in my nursing bras and you could only tell I was wearing it if you were really paying attention. It doesn’t have an automatic shut off at 30 minutes but pumping moms pump for varying amounts of time so I don’t believe this is a fault. The battery life last for 4-5 30 minute sessions for me which is impressive!
I am incredibly happy with this product and love that I was able to test it! Thank you again!!
