Freedom at Last!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Medela Freestyle Flex breast pump took “freestyle” to a whole new level. Me and pumping have always had a rough relationship, but this pump made it so much more bearable. It was easy to set up and use, easy to carry around, made it easier to multitask while pumping, and was super efficient. I could find TONS of positives, but literally no negatives to this breast pump.
Upon receiving, the packaging was beautifully laid out. In addition to the pump and parts, it included the bottles, a pump bag, a cooler, and an ice pack. It was a great pump starter kit!
Probably my favorite thing was that, not including the bottles, it only had four parts that came into contact with breast milk, which means only four parts you have to wash! This was one of the problems I had with pumping for the longest, because I absolutely hate having to wash a billion pump parts everyday. This made my life so much easier.
The actual pump was also super easy to use. Once you turn it on and set it the first time, all you have to do is press one button to turn it on and then it does the rest for you! Then turn it off and your done! No buttons to press while you’re having to pump, unless you want to change your suction settings. It automatically swaps from let down to expression phases for you, but does give you a button to change it back to let down phase if needed.
The rechargeable battery and compact size made it super easy to pump on the go. I am a pediatric nurse so it is super hard to find time to pump while not having to take care of other things. This pump made it easy to chart on my patients as well as pumping my baby’s milk on a daily basis without having to have a huge breast pump in the way or plugged up at a weird distance. This was not only helpful at work, but also at home. I didn’t feel like I had to be confined to my chair while I pumped 30+ minutes at a time anymore. I was able to do laundry, dishes, etc. at the same time! It gave me so much more valuable time back that was otherwise wasted.
Not only was this pump convenient, but it was also super efficient! Usually, unless I was using a hospital grade breast pump, it takes FOREVER for me to pump enough milk at one time. With this one, I was able to get 8 oz within 10 minutes. And, I could barely feel it pumping, even when set to the highest suction! It was definitely the most comfortable pumping sessions I’ve ever experienced!

Great new features!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over the last seven years of my nursing journey (extended breastfeed until two and currently nursing perhaps my last little nursling), I have used several different Medela pumps. As with everything related to nursing no two mom's or babies are exactly the same, and I have found that I achieve maximum output when I am able to adjust both the let down and expression settings. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel I was able to try the Freestyle Flex Pump and it did not disappoint. I feel I was able to spend less time at the pump after playing around with the settings. It is super user friendly, easy to travel with thanks to the long charge the lithium batteries hold, USB charging cable and the new slim design, the corresponding app is great to track your progress via Bluetooth, I love the lighted design to see at night and the touchscreen is a nice touch, the new shorter tubing is wonderful, and I love the comfort added to the flanges. As for handsfree, I personally still have to hold the bottles while pumping. I am fairly busty and the handsfree bra just doesn't work for me. It may for someone else though. The motor is fairly loud so this wouldn't be an option for discreet pumping. I can easily fit this in my satchel purse along with the accessories if needed; I could fit the motor in my crossbody easily but not the bottles and other accessories. Overall, I would recommend this pump for new mom's.

Great portable pump, highly recommended

I am a stay at home mom with two toddlers and a newborn. I planned to pump to have a freezer stash and also donate my milk. I didn't think I needed a battery operated pump because I will spend most of my time at home with access to a eletrical plug. However I quickly discovered that it limited me to where I can pump and also my set up wasn't great so it was hard to pump and nurse my baby at the same time. When I received my Freestyle Flex Pump, thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I saw what a game changer it was to my daily routine of pumping and nursing. I was no longer tied to one spot in my livingroom or bedroom, I can pump anywhere! This is my first time using a battery operated pump and I will recommend it for anyone looking for a pump but do not like pumping in one spot. One of the thing I really enjoy about this pump is how quiet it is. I can pump and nurse my baby and it won't wake her up having the machine right next to us. I also like that there are not a lot of pump parts compare to other pumps on the market. All busy mothers will appreciate this, less parts means less things to clean. The pump is incredibly compact and easy to travel with I love the black tote that came with my pump but I find I don't need the whole bag. I found that my pump including parts fits right in a large wet bag. I'm able to throw it in my regular purse or diaper bag and go. I never could've done that with my other pump. I also really like that it can be charged via USB. It allows for more charging options. The only improvement I can see is where the connector sets are, it is easy for a leakage to happen if tilted back, this can be prevented if it is completely enclosed. Overall I think this pump is a great investment for pumping mothers. It is easy to use and easy to clean. It is light weight so traveling with it is not difficult. I will recommend this pump to any pumping mother.

Super portable and amazing pump for mommies

I Love my new Medela freestyle flex pump! This pump is so small and lightweight and I love that it fits right in my purse so I don't have to lug a giant pumping bag around with me everywhere I go. I love on the go cooler bag which is very helpful for carrying pumped milk. It keeps your milk cool for four hours at least. My favorite feature is how quiet it is and the light up screen is perfect for those middle of the night pumping sessions when I'm trying to keep the baby (and the rest of my house) from waking up. It's even a smart pump so I am able to connect it to the app, which helps keep track of how often I pump and how much milk I produce.
Overall a great investment for any mom on the go looking for a lightweight, portable breast pump with strong suction and a rechargeable battery. I got this pump free for the purpose of reviews from steller testing panel.

Love It, but.....

I really love this pump. It’s suction variations is great for when you’re engorged vs. when you just need to pump. It seems to empty the breast pretty good, although I include massaging to help. The only downfall that I have for this pump is that the battery after a month started to not hold a charge for very long. It says that it has a 2 hour battery life, but lately it’s only about an hour.

You'll just need to connect the pump to the wall outlet and hold down the power button on the side for 10 seconds. Then, charge the pump for 2 full hours. Overall disappointing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited for Medela to utilize current technology and put out their version of a wearable “hands free” pump.
I received the Medela Freestyle Hands-Free Double Electric Breast Pump from Stellar in exchange for an honest review.
I wish I had a different experience, but overall, I am very disappointed. Medela really had the chance to make something to stand out on the market, but this product misses the mark.
First of all, this is not Hands-Free. While the cups may fit inside your bra, there is long tubing that connects to the motor to the flanges, and the motor doesn’t have a strap to wear it around your neck or even a basic clip to wear it on your waist.
Next, the cups do not look the least bit “natural” under clothing. They stick out very far, and if the extremely loud sound wasn’t attention-grabbing enough, the look of your oddly shaped chest will be. I appreciate that each cup holds 5oz, but I think it would be quite a bit far fetched to recommend this pump as something you could wear at work while caring for patients, talking to clients, etc.
One big plus is that each side only has 3 pieces. 2 clear pieces snap together to make the flanges, and instead of a tiny membrane, each side has a larger yellow membrane that makes them easier to keep track of while washing. Cup assembly is intuitive, and washing is simple. No tiny crevices to clean with teeny brushes.
Medela advertises their cups as being clear so you can see what’s going on while pumping, but when you’re wearing them, the cups aren’t really transparent.
Just like most wearable pumps on the market, you won’t get as much output as you would from a freestanding pump, but I expected as much.
I found the cups to be lightweight, but it was just so awkward with the separate motor that had no where to go.
I would not let a good friend purchase this - yes it has a lower price point than other wearables, but it’s a big sacrifice as far as bulk, noise level, output, and trying to discretely wear the cups in public.
* It’s worth mentioning that this pump is now available to buy, yet you can’t buy spare parts, different sized flanges, etc. For those who like a set of parts for home and work, or a few sets to cycle through while the others are washing, even those who need a small or large flange size… So incredibly inconvenient. I sure hope Medela gets within it and releases these items soon.

Medela Freestyle Hands Free

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel for my honest review, and I can honestly say it is a life savior! The components are simple; pump, tubing, flange, cups, and the membrane. All parts are true to the Medela style, simple and easy to clean. The Medela Freestyle Hands-Free is perfect for on-the-go or to use while nursing. I used it while working and it saved me loads of time, not needing to step away to use a conventional pump (if you do not have the hands free pumping bra option). I also enjoyed using it while nursing my 4month old, having the option to use one side only. It is so compact and discrete while being powerful! It comes with 2 sizes of flange (I was able to use the smaller) that are comfortable for all size breasts. The only downfall is it does leak if not properly placed on the nipple or the cups closed completely. Those are things that can be overcome with more practice and use. Overall I am so very thrilled to have received this product and will continue to use it as my go-to pump.

No more pumping restrictions

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this breast pump to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and am so glad I had the opportunity! I have been using an older model pump by another brand for years and just came to the assumption that pumping was loud, inconvenient and an overall pain. I was pleasantly surprised once I tried the Medela freestyle pump and wished I would have tried something different sooner.
The first thing I noticed was how quiet and efficient it was. I wasn’t sure about the efficiency of a handsfree cordless pump, but the volume of milk I was able to pump was the same as my other pump. The only drawback to the Madela pump is that it has a smaller storage capacity as the cups sit in your bra, versus full size bottles attached to the pump that you’re stuck holding onto.
I have always found pumping to be inconvenient and tedious as I would have to stop what I was doing, find a place to sit near an outlet, and then try to entertain my older child while I pumped. Now I’m able to pump where I want and still be able to have my hands free to play with my kids, get light household chores done, all while pumping. I have found some tasks like moving laundry from the wash to the dryer have caused the cups to lose suction, but most all other tasks don’t seem to have any impact on the suction. Oh well, I guess laundry will just have to wait.. what a shame!
When it comes time to move milk from the pump to bags or bottles, the easy pour spout makes it easy and mess free. Cleaning the pump afterwards is easy as well since there are minimal parts and small pieces.
I would highly recommend this pump to anyone looking for a pump, you won’t be disappointed!
