Light discrete efficient

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, really well designed collection cups and pump all in one package from one manufacturer! Love it!
Loved using this pump while on the go and when I needed to catchup on chores around the house. Also used while nursing my newborn as it didn’t get in the way of our nursing space as a traditional pump flange and bottle does - been there, tried that, not successful.
The cups are some of the lightest in bra cups available on the market! No extra weight in your bra to support a motor or clunky collection cup parts.
Well designed pour spout that is actually functional. Pro tip - pour slowly and you shouldn’t have any issues with spills or dribbles.
Fewest parts of any collection cup style pump I’ve ever used - only three total parts to clean per cup!! And, the parts are all ergonomic and large enough to handle easily. No tiny pump parts to keep track of that may get lost in your sink-side drying rack.
The actual pump itself is small, but packs a lot of power. There are at least 5 stimulation and 5+ expression levels. I didn’t use them all and I typically go up to a level 14 on other wall pumps. I didn’t have to go up to such a high level with this pump which made for a gentler, more comfortable pumping experience.
The control interface on the pump is super intuitive, has a comfortable vibrating sensation while pumping, and is one of the smaller portable pumps I’ve used.
Shortfalls are few and include:
1. No locking feature on the pump interface - I accidentally increased the pumping level while wearing when the pump brushed against my pants which was quite painful.
2. The carrying leash is not long enough to be a neck lanyard. It’s not convenient to carry as distributed and would greatly benefit from a longer neck lanyard. This would make the pump truly hands free as the only way I was able to use the included carrying leash was on my wrist.
3. Collection cup capacity is average which will work for most moms. However, I wish these cups had a greater capacity considering the total volume of the cup. I’m sure it’s a design/engineering issue, but I’m an overproduced and have to stop mid pump session to empty the cups, reposition, and restart my pump session.

A time saving pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying that I hate pumping. As a mom who works full time, I don’t have a choice, but I hate that it interferes with my work day AND leaves me with a mountain of pump parts to wash at night. I’ve been through more than a few different pumps/cups/flanges trying to make this as tolerable as possible. I’m always looking for something new, so when the Stellar Product Testing Panel sent me this pump I was excited to test it out.
Out of the box the first thing I noticed was how light the cups were. They seemed almost minimal, which very quickly became my favorite thing about this pump. I rarely use collection cups because I find putting them together to be super finicky, with so many seals and valves needing to line up just right, only to have them leak anyway- not so with this pump. There are three total parts to these cups (three!) and no duckbills! I truly did not realize how deep my hatred of those impossible to wash valves ran until I had these cups. Medela has made an ingenious 1-piece membrane/valve combo. It has a notch to line up perfectly and goes on in under a second. The cups also have a little notch that lines up and the two pieces securely snap together. That’s it! They’re done! And they are by far and away the easiest pump parts I’ve ever cleaned…. I use 1 brush and have them clean in about 2 minutes, or throw them in the dishwasher. As for the rest of the setup, the tubing snaps in quickly and securely, and to switch to a single pump you just pop the other side of the tubing into a little spot on the “T” connector. I’ve yet to have these cups leak or pop open, which is amazing. They are incredibly stable on the counter, and pour easily without much milk getting caught in the parts. If I seem like I’m raving about these cups, I am. I find myself reaching for this pump more and more these days, and it saves me time by keeping me mobile and not having to wash tons of parts. I work in healthcare and don’t hesitate to throw these on and get right back to charting. I also use them for an extra pump at night while I’m cleaning up the house to help increase my supply. I get pretty good output from these, and it’s so easy to put them on and do some power pumping while I’m continuing about my day.
All that said, there are some things I would change. They currently only come in 21 and 24mm, so sizing can be an issue. It doesn’t have a ”lock” feature on its touch screen and I’ve bumped the settings more than once while I’ve been moving around. I would love a clip for the pump so I don’t have to put it in my pocket, I may end up adding one. The pump is a touch louder than others, but not overly disruptive. I’m rather small chested and feel like the cups are pretty noticeable, but I think any kind of pump would be.
Overall, I’m pretty pleased with this pump. As I said above, I find myself reaching for it pretty often, which I think is the true test of how much I like the pump. I would certainly recommend it, especially if you hate washing pump parts!

Excellent breast pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The medela freestyle hands free double electric breast pump is the rolls Royce of breast pumps. I absolutely love this pump that I was gifted by the stellar product testing panel!
It’s super easy to take apart and wash, putting it back together is a breeze! It doesn’t have a million and one parts that are easy to lose or forget when packing your diaper bag; it’s super lightweight and barely takes up space in my diaper bag.
I’ve been able to pump while doing dishes, making dinner and even helping my kids to do homework and none of them noticed a thing.
My favorite feature is its discreet and compact size, it doesn’t feel awkward at all, I absolutely love taking it with me on the go!
I would absolutely recommend this pump to any mama’s out there!

My new favorite pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this pump! It’s so easy to use and the best part of all, so easy to clean! This pump only has 3 parts to it so taking it apart and putting it back together after washing is such a breeze. The compact size and on-the-go feel of it has made pumping in the office or in the car while driving so easy. I had a lot of anxiety about going back to work while also pumping every 3 hours and this pump has suited my lifestyle great! The only negatives that I’ve found is that the motor can be a little loud, particularly in an office setting and that the touch screen can be sensitive and sometimes changes settings in my pocket while doing I’m doing things. But the pros definitely outweigh the cons as this is my new favorite pump! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this breast pump.

Good Supplement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using this to pump in the evenings before bed and it has been great as a pump to get a little extra to store for future needs or relief. Currently I am on a trip and as a Mom who EBF for the most part, I am not in love with how this works as a full time pump. It has taken a lot more time to get my breasts to feel empty after use and I’ve needed to pump twice as much then when I use my main pump. Hopefully if I change the bra and try some other things I can figure out how to make it more effective because I love the design, how easy it is to use and switch back and forth between settings, how few parts there are to clean and that it fits in my purse. There are so many good things about it, but right now I recommend it as a secondary pump because of it being inefficient at emptying. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for allowing me the chance to try this out.

They thought of everything

It is extremely easy and convenient to use, it is efficient, and it is compact so you can take it with you on-the-go. I have been pumping and breastfeeding for over 11 years now (5 kiddos!) and this is by far the best pump I have ever owned. From the moment I pulled it out of the packaging, I was impressed by the level of detail Medela took into account. The instruction manual has a cover that converts into a "Quick-Start-Guide" with easy to understand photos. One thing I really loved was the measurement guide to help me determine which size flange I needed. With every other pump I have ever owned, it has always been a "try-it and see if it works" experience with the flanges. With this one, I followed the measurement guide and got the perfect flange for me on the first attempt. The instruction manual also includes information about the corresponding app, which is great! Even if you're not an "app person" definitely download the Medela Family app as it is super useful and easy to use. If it doesn't work for you, no worries, the instruction manual tells you how to remove your pump from it too!
Do I look a little bit like first generation Lara Croft while using this hands-free pump? Absolutely. But is it super comfortable and way more discreet than most I've used and seen? Absolutely. I was able to go around my house and do my usual chores/responsibilities while pumping and I didn't have to worry about anything spilling thanks to the design of this pump. Definitely use a supportive bra though to keep it in place. When you're done pumping, make sure to follow the instructions and leave the pump on while removing the collection cups so you empty out the chamber where the milk collects around your nipple while pumping. If you don't, you'll lose a little bit when you stand the cups upright before emptying them into your storage bags/bottles.
Overall, I love how easy this pump is to use and clean (you don't even have to clean the tubing!!). I no longer see pumping as a chore and time eater, but rather just something I can do while attending to my everyday responsibilities. Dishes? Nope, now it's dishes and pumping. Laundry? Laundry and pumping. Chasing after my infant who just learned to crawl? I can do that while pumping too! It really helps me get my day back and stay productive. Plus it fits in my diaper bag with ease so I can pump on the go if I need to as well!

Great pump for multitasking

The pump allows me to discreetly express milk anytime under clothing while doing all kinds of activities - folding clothes, cooking lunch or even during virtual meetings! One thing I noticed about the pump is that it does not have as strong of a vacuum as my traditional breast pump, so it does take a bit longer to express. The best part about The Medela Freestyle Hands-free Double Electric Breast Pump is the freedom it has allowed me to pump while multitasking and the precious time it has saved me! Medela Freestyle Hands Free Pump

As a mom of 6 with a combined 8 years and counting of breastfeeding experience I've used quite a few different pumps. Overall, I've never had much luck getting a decent amount of milk out and was always left frustrated. This Medela Hands Free pump was a game changer! I got more milk in only 5 minutes with this pump than I got in 20 minutes with other pumps. The best part though, was being able to actually eat a meal with both hands while my baby slept and not having to hold the pump in place. Cleaning was simple and not too time consuming since there aren't many parts to deal with. Storing the pump is also easy as it doesn't take up much space. I usually get frustrated with most pumps and ditch them quickly, but this pump will be sticking around for awhile.
