The pump for busy moms

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for giving me the opportunity to try out the Medela Freestyle hands free breast pump! This pump is so quiet and fits right into your bra. The controls/engine is rechargeable so you are not glued to an outlet the whole time you are pumping. I was able to move from room to room easily without needing to disconnect anything. I found the suction to be very gentle, I was almost sure it wasn't working, but I got the same amount as usual.
I had a bit of a learning curve that involved leaking milk. Once I must have not clicked the cup together all the way. Another time the collection cup had filled up past the top line and started leaking back on me through the flange. Otherwise, it's a great strong but gentle pump, that is easy to set up and even easier to clean! Now that's a win in my book!

Great contender in the hands free market

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One month into going back to the office, I received the Medela Freestyle Hands-free Double Electric Breast Pump from the Stellar Product Testing Panel to test. I've never used a Medela pump so I was really excited to try this out.
Right out of the box, I loved how there were 2 flange sizes included. I love how the cups can stand up on its own, and it was easy to pour almost all the milk out. Each cup can hold 5oz and there are markings on the cup, but once they were filled with milk, I couldn't read the markings at all. The cups only had 3 pieces that needed to be washed. I have to wash my pump part in my office bathroom, so the less pieces I have to deal with, the better. The trade off with this is that I can't see how my nipple is aligned in the flange. My output was comparable to my existing pump, but it was not as comfortable, which I think is because my nipple was not centered in the tunnel.
I was a bit surprised by how big the actual pump is, especially compared to other wearables. It definitely does not fit in my of my pockets or even hoodie pockets. The pump has a short cord on it, but it wasn't really usable to me. I would have preferred a long lanyard type so I can just wear the pump around my neck. I found out later that this is just the Freestyle pump and it's compatible with their regular collection flanges and bottles. I love this flexibility, especially for work.
While I would definitely recommend this pump, I will only use it as a backup or occasional afternoon/evening pump because the 5oz capacity is too small for me as an over-producer. And not being to feel confident with how my nipple is lining up in the tunnel pushes this into the backup category.

Great hands free pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Medela Freestyle Hands-free Double Electric Breast Pump in exchange for my honest review from Stellar Product Testing Panel. I have had three babies and used three different pumps of varying styles.
Hands-free is always my preferred pump and this one was especially great. It was so effective and just as quick as my full size pump, allowing me to fully empty in 15 minutes. I loved the discreet cup option to truly be hands free and have the ability to be productive while pumping. I was surprised how big of a difference the cups made vs traditional flanges I had used previously. While my flanges were hands free, there was a limit to what I could do. However, with this pump there was no limit and as a new mom even that 20 minutes lost while pumping is so valuable!

Game changing pump

If you are a mom who needs to get other things done (care for an older sibling, work, do chores, go out with friends) this pump is for you. I've pumped while rocking my baby to sleep, I've pumped while driving to and from activities, I've pumped while building block towers with my toddler, I've pumped while out to eat with friends. It's amazing how compact and discrete it is! And I had always heard stories about how this style pump did not empty breasts as effectively as traditional pumps. I personally did not have that experience. I get the same output as my other pump. There's no way I can go back now!

Easy to use and superior quality

This pump makes pumping on the go a breeze. The parts are easy to clean and put back together again- a plus for busy moms! Charging is quick and then battery life is exceptional. The pump itself is small enough to keep in your pocket and the flange/collection reservoir fit snugly in your nursing bra. I highly recommend this pump to any mom that is looking to pump on the go!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Game Changing Pump

Sure, it does the basics of getting milk out and being super portable with the battery powered pump and hands free collection cups, but it's also the easiest to assemble and clean.
I love that it can go in the dishwasher and doesn't have a million parts to deal with. Compared to the other, standalone collection cups I've tried, the three piece setup is the best. I wish the cups were a bit bigger - they say they can only do 5 ounces each, but I've forgotten to check how full they are mid-pump and accidentally collected 6 or 7 ounces without overflowing.
That's how great this thing is - I can forget that I'm pumping while I'm using it.
The pump itself is really quiet and easy to use. The app connectivity is really cool and helpful if you're an exhausted mom trying to figure out which settings work best for you.
For this mom so sick of cleaning pump parts, the three piece setup is the absolute best.

New favorite pump

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Medela Freestyle quickly became my favorite pump and the only one I’ve been using for the past few weeks. I had never used a hands free pump before, despite having one in my closet, still in the box. They tend to look complicated, both difficult to use and clean and I’ve heard they shouldn’t be used as one’s primary pump. The Medela Freestyle was much more approachable because each cup only has three pieces that assemble easily and are even easier to clean. I was really shocked how easy it was to get up and running with the Medela and how well I could move around with it. I cycle through 8 nursing bras and they all seem to fit the cups well and hold them close enough to the breast. They are easy to remove, just unhook the hose from the top of each, lean forward a bit and pull each out. There is a little opening at the top of each to easily pour into whatever container one uses for storage. That being said, I did have some leak every time during transfer from cup to bag, which was frustrating, but it was only a couple drops. Of course no product is perfect. I did wish there was more information about how to pick your flange size, especially since I’ve heard that it being correct is especially crucial when using wearables. There was a small picture telling you where to measure, but in practice, it didn’t feel that easy or correct and left me wondering if I should change sizes. I also had a really hard time seeing the measurement lines on the cups, which was really frustrating because I like to record the amount I’m getting from each breast.
Although I really love this pump, I wouldn’t say it is necessarily discrete, it makes my chest look massive and awkwardly sized (and I was a 32DD pre-kids) and the motor makes a noise that would be tough to ignore in a quiet environment. I mostly used it at home, partially because of the reasons I listed, but more so because there isn’t a carrying case or a way to store parts before or after use. I also wish the motor had a clip on it to attach to clothing more discretely. I rarely have pockets on my clothing and I found myself having to stuff the motor between my breasts for the pump to be truly hands free.
I am a stay at home mom and while wearing the Medela Freestyle, I was able to more effectively care for both my baby and toddler. I could get up and play with my toddler or make his breakfast. Heck, you can even go to the bathroom. I also just enjoyed being able to sit in bed and read a book using both hands while pumping. It gives me the freedom to move throughout my routine and keep the day moving instead of having to take a break every time I pumped. However, don’t bend over at the waist! I didn’t think twice about it at one point and milk was dumped all over, which was frustrating, both because of milk loss, but also creating another mess to clean up.
Other than the Medela Freestyle being easy to use and clean, my favorite feature is the Bluetooth enabled app. When you open the app while the pump is powered on, it will upload that pump session. It will even download ones from when I was offline. I like that I can track how much milk I am producing this way (although you still have to manually enter the number of ounces). I thought that was a very cool feature that I hadn’t seen before and a nice touch on the part of Medela. I would absolutely recommend the Medela Freestyle!

Super portable

Was very excited to hear that Medela had a hands free pump. Although not completely hands free since you have to find somewhere to put the little system. It IS quite portable. I LOVE the fact that there’s only 3 parts to clean and wash and that the pieces were easy to clean. HUGE perk. The rechargeable part is awesome as well so you don’t have to worry about batteries. I mainly use this for when I’m out of the house and need to pump for baby. It’s easy to use on the go, not super discreet lol but it’ll do if you have a cover. All the parts fit easily into my pump bag and so easy to carry around!
