It won't charge the headset unless the perfect conditions are met, of which I never fully discovered. There's a VERY long thread on the forum with many people discussing this...

Comfortable, Functional, But A Bit Expensive

I am really pleased I purchased this headset with my quest 3. It makes the battery life much more tolerable so I can play without worrying about running out of power. The headset is very comfortable and the battery works great.

Quest 3 must connected to battery in order to char

This is a great addition to the quest 3. Being able to play longer without worrying about battery life makes the experience even more exciting. I did have some issues figuring out how to charge the battery at first. It would not charge until I figured out that the battery has to be plugged into the quest 3 to start charging.

When the extended battery is plugged into the supplied charging unit it does not charge the battery in the headset

Hey there Jim! Charging prioritizes the headset, so if the Elite Strap is plugged into the headset while the whole unit is charging, the headset will first charge to 100%, and then the Elite Strap.
