Wonderful machine, minor design recommendation/wis

Absolutely love the Foodcycler from Vitamix. Super quiet, powerful, and versatile. Usual cycle lasts 4-6 hours, need to be careful to not overfill. One minor design issue is the seating of the container into the machine itself is not intuitive. It takes several attempts to get the container to fully seat into the machine. Wish that there was a clearer indicator for initial seating and "locking into position" indicators on the machine.

Along with my Vitamix blender, this is one of the most frequently used appliances in my kitchen. I have a large summer garden each year and commonly used large compost bins that I never had time to properly maintain. The cost made me hesitant but it has paid for itself in the amount of quality compost. Every time I run a cycle I'm amazed and tell everyone about it. This appliance is a total game changer for a gardener.

Couldn’t be happier! Having tried the traditional composting ‘thing,’ at great cost, inconvenience and angst, we decided to give this a try. It has more than met our expectations. We bought it about 6 weeks ago and have used many times (more than I would have expected). We’re using it once or twice a week. It’s quiet, efficient and effective. Well worth what we paid; highly recommended.

I’ve had my Eco 5 for over a month now and use it once or twice a week. I fill it with veggie and fruit scraps, eggshells, leftovers
That have gone bad in the fridge, juicing pulp and whatever else. The machine will turn a bucket full of scraps into a half a cup or more of a material that looks and feels like peet moss. Its very dry and light so easy to distribute in your garden. I live in a condo and I just put in the yard. The machine is quiet. In about an hour or two the bucket full is already reduced to less than half. It does take about 6-8 hrs but its hardly noticeable. This product has exceeded my expectations and makes my life so much easier. I truly wish every home would have this device. Wanted to mention that if I have large amounts of Watermelon rind I will run it through my juicer. This way it gets composted with everything else. Love the product as I do all my other vitamix products. So happy I purchased the Eco 5. It’s easy, convenient and allows me to put my food back into the earth vs rotting in the landfill.
