I am very happy I found and purchased this product. Definitely noticing a decrease in my trash volume. I do a lot of cooking at home, so whatever I can compost is great. I have followed the guidelines for what to compost, and so far everything comes out just fine. Looking forward to using the compost very soon.

Very easy to use. Operates quietly, as advertised, turning food waste into compost. No more smelly messes to store for weekly pickup. After a few weeks of using it, I've just applied my first bucket of composted material to my garden bed. Looking forward to a phenomenal growing season!

Recently our city has required that we separate food scraps, peels, chicken bones, etc and place it in our bin for leaves and grass clipping. We would have to store things in a bucket before tossing it out. To be honest it was kind of gross. We decided to buy the Vitamix FoodCycler especially because we have had such a great experience with our blender. Needless to say, we have been extremely happy with the FoodCycler. It is quiet and breaks down the food scraps and other things beautifully.

Having tried different forms of composting, the Foodcycler is ideal for my needs. The machine is very quiet and yields nice smelling fluffy compost to add to soil in my extensive garden. I am thrilled to keep food scraps out of the trash and the white unit is almost a bone color, perfectly matching my kitchen walls. Easy to use and highly recommend this larger model.

Does a good job of turning food waste, including chicken bones (but not other larger bones) into compost quickly. Does sometimes have problems with the leftover stringy stalks of veggies from my garden and the farmers market and foraging (onion, garlic, dock, etc).

Better than expected

I compared multiple food cyclers/composters for 2 years. I decided on the Eco 5 due to VitaMix quality, warranty and item structure. This handles everything and I do not put it bones other than chicken. It is very quiet and it is heavy. Once you have it out and set there is no need to worry about the weight. Very easy to use--only one setting. I think the only smell is when it's finished the smell is similar to coffee grounds. Down sides: plastic and charcoal holder is in plastic and plastic bag. One warning: my dog smells the finished product and eats it so I can't put it anywhere in garden or flower beds. I live in a cold climate so outdoor composting only works a couple months in the year.
