Good unit with a poorly designed carafe.

The unit is attractive, and it brews good coffee. The unit has all necessary features, and it is easy to set up and use. The display is bright and the clock is easy to read.
One issue however is the design of the carafe. It is impossible to empty the carafe completely. There is a narrow channel where the plastic rim meets the glass body of the carafe. A small amount of water or coffee remains under the rim, and it returns back into the carafe when the pot is returned upright. The narrow channel is impossible to clean without a Q-Tip swab, and I am concerned that bacteria may grow in the coffee residue that is bound to accumulate in the channel under the rim.

Too smart from its own good

Once again I purchased a coffee maker that is too smart for its own good. I have owned it for less than a month and it is shutting off and showing a E5 error code. Also there isn't enough room when refilling with water.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The reusable coffee grounds basket handle does not stay in the holes so I cannot trust it by picking it up by the handle. I've tried bending it to stretch out further but the handle has a memory I cannot surpass! The male ends are just too short and I have spilled the grounds a couple of times which is a real mess. I have now begun to use paper filters because at the bottom of the brewed pot of coffe, there is a slight slush and I have to dispose and wast the last few ounces. Love the screw design on the lid of the pot! No fear of it coming off when pouring coffee from the carage! I like the 1-4 cup button feature for brewing smaller pots. Wish GE would give an extra filter or instructions on where to purchase filters.

Third time a charm?

This is the third time for this coffee maker for me. The first stopped working, the second worked but I received error messages on the control panel daily, and so far the third replacement is working okay. If I didn’t like the unit so well, I would have moved on. When working it is a really good coffee maker.

Flawed design

The problem with this coffee maker is that the design of the carafe is sub-optimal. The coffee drips out of the spout and runs down the front of the carafe while you are trying to pour it. If you brew any more than 6 cups, the coffee doesn't pour neatly. It's really annoying - you have to pour it over the sink so as to not g et coffee all over the place.
Otherwise the machine functions properly.
