Overall, great design and compact

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sleek beautifully designed unit. Powerful and efficient cooking. WiFi enabled. Unfortunately mine died after 6 days of use and was fixed under warranty within a week of calling Samsung. I will recommend purchasing an extended warranty because the soldered fuse tends to to go out on these units fairly quickly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this Unit to replace an identical one that had quit heating. The original one had been in use for about two years. I had purchased a warranty with it and the company gave me the funds to buy a new one. I am hoping that this one lasts much longer. We don’t use it every day.

Cooks Great and is Atttractive

I will start my review with the positives. It cooks very well and is very attractive.
Now for the negatives. This unit is poorly designed and has several shortcomings.
1. The door is the full width of the unit. Nowhere in the documentation did it say that it needs at least an additional 1.5 inches on the left side to allow the door to swing open. I had to redesign my cupboards to accommodate this shortcoming. Not pleasant! The door could have been designed to just cover the cooking compartment, not the entire unit. 2. The control panel has touch buttons which are marked in grey on a black glass which makes them hard to see even in normal light. In the dark or dim light, they are totally invisible. The control panel back should have been back-lit with led lighting to make them easily seen. Additionally they attract finger prints which require frequent cleaning. 3. Because of the door width, right handed persons have to be careful when loading the compartment. One would normally open the door with the left hand and insert the product to be cooked with the right. When doing this, the heel of that left hand frequently contacts the fan touch button and activates it. The fan is very noisy and has four levels, so once activated it requires four button pushes to turn it off. Two levels would have been sufficient. 4. The lighting on the bottom of the unit is supposed to light up the stove top. It has two levels neither of which is bright enough! I was interested in this and touched the clear panels over the light only to find out they are very, very hot indeed. This tells me that the bulbs are probably incandescent. Why was modern bright LED lighting not provided. I keep the lights turned off as much as possible because in the long term, these bulbs will likely burn out quickly because of the heat. I can’t imagine what replacement bulbs would cost.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poorly thought out controls.

First, unless the room is brightly lit, I cannot read the control panel. No backlight and faint text on the controls means I frequently have stop, walk across the room and turn the lights up to see my entries. I did contact Samsung via the website and asked about a backlight the bot said I was being referred to a Pro. Well, that was the end of the contact. No Pro, no callback or text. Second, the control for the fan is located precisely where we put our thumb when we open the door. We are then met with a loud roar and another trip across the room to turn the lights up so we can turn the fan off. Have the designers ever used this model on a quiet, slightly dark evening? On the other hand, the microwave works as well as our old Panasonic when we can actually hit the correct buttons.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

DO NOT BUY!!!

I’ve had my microwave for a 14 months and are sad it doesn’t work. It turn on by itself whenever it wants. It just starts acting crazy, turns on lights, fan turn table randomly sometimes separately or sometimes all at once. We’ve experience it turning at all times of the day, mid night, early morning you name it! When we actually want to microwave something it won’t let us. We are a Samsung family and wow this is the first items we are extremely disappointed about. Warranty is past due so now we can’t even get it fixed. We will have to pay out of pocket and I’m sure it won’t be cheap. We saved money our hard earned money just to get this microwave and it is useless, paid almost $500 to just look nice because we don’t even plug it in anymore.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
