Moved Away from Gas and Not Looking Back
on July 30, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had it for a couple of months now, and I couldn't be happier. My former range was a KitchenAid professional gas one--tremendous workhorse that lasted 20 years with only a couple of blown panels because of overheating during self-cleaning (which I then stopped using). Know also that I'm an avid cook who looks forward to the zen of chopping and sautéeing after a long day at work.
With all of that said, I'm never going back to gas. Induction is faster to heat things up, quicker to adjust, more energy-efficient, and easier to clean. The amount of heat it produces in the kitchen is significantly lower. And the (electric) oven is much quieter than gas.
This particular model is also drop-dead gorgeous, with clean lines, no knobs, a large oven window, an oven light that actually illuminates the interior well, and much more.
If you've used induction before you'll know that there's a very faint buzz when it's operating. I hardly notice it. A bit more annoying is the fact that, when another pot sits on an turned-off heating element, there's a very slight "click" every few seconds, as if the range is on a loop detecting the pot over and over. As an engineer, that annoys me a little.
As for the unit's design, the one thing that's pretty annoying is that, when using one of the "easy" oven programs, the screen does not show the actual oven temperature but rather the target temperature. When do you know the oven is up to temperature, you ask? Well, you don't. Fortunately, I don't use "easy" programs often and go for fully manual instead, which does show you everything you need to know.

Safety hazard.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was extremely disappointed with the stove. I used the oven twice and made the decision to return it. It is a safety and fire hazard. The stainless steel front and top where the digital controls are, (front panel) was so hot that you could not put your hand on it. So easy for an accident to happen whether it is an adult or child. I have expressed my opinion to family and friends and also to a couple of sales personnel. Very disappointed. It took alot of looking and comparing before I chose to buy it.

Will break down quickly

I have this same model and after only 2 years, 10 months the oven has stopped working. I would not recommend buying this product unless you are planning to move away and leave this ready to fail product to the next occupant. Kitchen Aid, when it was a subsidiary of Hobart. had great products. Now that they are under the umbrella of Whirlpool quality is horrible. Another example, I bought a K45SS stand mixer in 1981 and it lasted 35 years of heavy use. When it finally died, I bout the same model in 2019 and it lasted just 13 months. You can fool me once, maybe twice, but I will never consider or purchase another Kitchen Aid product.

Great features, sleek looking

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so glad that I decided to go with induction when my electric range went and found this KitchenAid. I could never go back to standard electric. Induction really is the closest to gas you can get. I do wish there were knobs to control the stovetop rather than a control panel. But I am getting used to that part. The oven is fantastic. I love the slide out rack, which you normally only see on the expensive professional brands. The oven features are great. The proof function made the best pizza dough. The convection works great for pizzas. Chicken wings came good and were easy to make with air fry. The oven heats up quickly. It is so quiet when it's on also. I can barely even tell. My old oven would constantly make clicking sounds, which this does not do. Definitely an upgrade and would recommend to anyone looking for an induction range.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about three weeks ago and couldn't be happier. the range top heats fast. Boiling water is just as fast as gas range. Oven is very quiet when being used even on convection with fan working.

Somewhat Disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this oven a couple of months ago and while we were initially very excited to make the switch from electric element to induction, we have found a few aspects to be less than ideal. We like the look of this oven (matches our KitchenAid fridge) and were drawn in by the bridging feature. We have not yet used the air fry function of the oven.
Cons: -We were not able to hear how loud the induction top is before purchasing (not an active model in the storeroom), and the pulsating clicks are annoying. The induction top continues to click for all target areas that have any magnetic items on them, even if those target areas are not engaged (i.e., set at 0). -The graduations on the induction top would lead one to believe that there would be on the order of 16 settings from off (0) to max (9), but the electronic selections only allow 0 to 9 in whole number increments. We have found difficulty in simmering some items (3 is too high, 2 is too low, and the automatic "simmer" setting has yet to work properly for us). -We were hoping that the induction would allow us more careful control of the cooktop, but while the on/off is fast, the lack of precision between the settings may negate any speed benefits during setting changes. We are not sure if the nature of the response during setting changes may be related to the pulsating clicks/cycling of the induction coils. -The timer only allows settings in whole minute increments, and the timer alarm is very quiet. -The instructions that came with the oven were lacking. We didn't realize there was a protective coating of oil on all interior surfaces, and just about smoked out our house the first time we used the oven. I also suspect that the oven runs on the cold side, and the instruction booklet does not contain any calibration information (we are hoping to find some guidance on-line). -The induction controls are on the induction top and sometimes feel both slow to respond and easy to accidentally turn off. -The portion of the unit above the oven door and immediately in front of the induction top gets quite warm. This area is now slightly annoying when using the far induction targets while the oven is on. This more an issue for me (shorter than my husband) as I have to lean over this warm area to reach pots at the back, and would hate to attempt this with any shoulder mobility restrictions.
Pros: +The "boost" function is nice and does boil water very quickly. +The slide out rack design is very handy, and there are lots of options for rack positioning within the oven. +The oven cavity is quite large, so there are no capacity issues. +No nobs = easier cleaning of cook top. +Can accommodate very large pots when using the bridging feature to join two of the induction targets.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the oven!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like to bake cakes and the oven is great! I haven’t tried the air fryer yet. The induction top works great but the controls are kind of confusing. It didn’t come with an instruction manual.

I have questions unanswered

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the range. I did think that KitchenAid did not made it easy to find the owners manual on how to actually use the functions on this exact range. The quick start only covered the very basics. So far the missing range rack has not been provided. This does not reflect on the range itself but the customer service handling the claims.
