Installed and loved it, and it looks great. After approximately 5 minutes of use, it completely DIED!! A Zero rating would be more accurate!!!!

Oh no!

DYI install and the instructions were fairly straightforward. Recommend that if you are going to do a DYI install and that it is an original installation that you be very "handy". Otherwise have it done professionally. LOTS of preset cooking settings! Looks great installed!
What a space saver. We have a small kitchen and this low profile GE microwave is perfect for us. Looks great and easy to use with all of the options a full size has
A question and a few comments. So far so good for cooking. Much better than our 10+ year old one. My issues are about simple design choices that actually impede use.
Question -- The cooktop light very bright, but a stark white color temperature (of like 5000+k?). It looks like an alien space ship is landing on the range. Is there a way to change the color temp via something like a DIP switch? Are replacements LEDs available with different color temperatures? BTW, I appreciate the brightness, but a third, lower brightness would make for better nite light use.
Comments
-- As others said, indeed the clock number segments light is way too bright. Standing in front, the numerals are right at my eye level, way distracting -- like high beams from oncoming cars. I will try turning it off.
-- The operational buttons are almost impossible to see unless most all lights are on in kitchen. Again, standing in front of the microwave, all I see is my reflection in the glossy black finish (along with the slightly blinding clock numerals). A mat finish (like the our GE range) and/or some button backlights would help.
-- By design, the oven projects further out over the cooktop than a "normal" 12" deep one. That's good, it helps make the vent more effective and provides more cooking space. BUT... the way the door is implemented makes this fundamental open/close operation a pain. I have to duck or move away to clear this full-width 30" swinging door. Sort of like opening a wide 2-door car door in a tight space. Really annoying -- especially since there was design opportunity to make the door shorter, change hinging, or even better have the door lift up/down. Did only short people test it?
-- Someone also mentioned about the top mounting holes. Yes, very far forward of the typical 12" cabinet depth and just inside the 30" width. Holes barely fit inside the cabinet, and just shy of cabinet face frame. Needs some alternate top mounting locations. Rear wall bracket horizontal vent were fine.
-- A third, slower/quieter fan vent speed would be nice, or just make it quieter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello,
We’re glad you’ve been enjoying the performance of your new microwave, but we’re sorry to hear you’ve been less than impressed with the lighting and certain aspects of the overall design. We do not recommend installing a DIP switch to control the color temperature of the lights, and the only replacement LED available for this model can be found here:
We are constantly working to make our products better, and we’ll forward your feedback to our product team so that we can continue to improve. Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Please know we’re here should you need further assistance. -MichaelB@GEA
We did an extensive home remodel 6years ago switched from older GE Profile appliances that still worked. Recycled to our other home. (Still working as of this writing!) To what we thought was equivalent kitchenaid, we were wrong! From a 2.1cu/ft to this 1.2cu/ft microwave. Sized just right for our needs. Being smaller you have a better view of the range cooktop. 2 small issues though not a big deal. The clock display is too bright and not adjustable. A piece of window tint nicely cut to cover the clock should do it. The other is the exhaust fan is louder than what we,re use to. 400cfm vs. 300cfm.(exhaust horizontally outside) Would give it 4.75 stars. Overall great product! We,re back to GE Profile!
