I bought the clutch about 5 years ago and have regularly used it on expeditions for hours on end. My gear is a Canon 7D with 24-105 and 70-200 EF lenses so it needs to carry some weight. I love the way it is easy and fast to adjust and that ghe back of your hand does not get hooked ip if sweaty or wet. It is very low profile so when using a tripod it stays out of the way. I noticed today that the strap through the canon body mount has frayed to a point where it probably needs to be replaced. I’ll look at a steel ring for the next one to mount as maybe the sharp edges have caused this. This has taken some beating with snow, seawater, freshwater and heat all subjected to it. The rest of the strap is as new so the longevity is there. Recommend it to all DSLR users.
I bought this product a long time ago. It's a very good product of very good quality. However, I stopped using it because I use a battery pack on my R5, and when I want to shoot in vertical orientation, it's in the way. It's not as comfortable. Could you develop a solution to allow shooting both horizontally and vertically?"
Bought the L-plate version for my Olympus OM-D E-M10, and it’s a really useful addition. To be honest, it doesn’t fit exactly - the socket in the camera itself is offset towards the front - but it makes little difference. As always with PD products, the Clutch is really high quality and robust.
Wish there was a middle of the road version. Regular (DSLR) is a bit too large, Micro (Mirrorless) is too small. Would work well with medium sized Mirrorless like Sony A7 series cameras with smaller lenses.
Otherwise, it works very well, having a Capture plate on the bottom is the best part. Makes it easier to transition from strap carry (using Falcam Capture Clip attached to carry strap) to tripod. The anchor link can get in the way of the tripod clamping area if you are not careful. Not too much of an issue on smaller ballheads, but could see how it could be a problem on larger ones.
My clutch has been through so much abuse and the only thing that happened to it is the padding got abraded on the seam but a couple of stitches got it fixed right up and it hasn’t come apart any further a year later.
I love how this clutch felt on my Canon Powershot V1. Unfortunately, the base plate is magnetized and it would cause my screen's touch screen to stop working, the screen wouldntflip when I switched it to front view, or it would just turn off. I liked the product, but do NOT use with the canon V1.
