Overall, it does the job advertised.

I kickstarted the micro clutch and after about a month of use, I can safely say that it was worth it for me. I didn’t arrive at that conclusion overnight though. In fact, I was ready to return it. But after watching a video on adjusting the strap, I finally got it feeling terrific on my A7II. And now, it’s almost second nature. Some times I don’t even need my neck strap and I feel safe doing so.
I would say the biggest gripe I have is the silly decision to use a proprietary tool that is “hidden” within the base plate to unscrew it. I can never get enough leverage with it as the main part is too shallow and always ends up coming out as in turning. WHY they didn’t just go with a hex tool like the rest of their products baffles me. What was the thinking behind this choice?

Solid design - slight chaffing

Bought this via kickstarter and overall it’s great. Easy to install and simple to use. My only issue is it slightly rubs against the inside of the space between my index finger and middle finger. I’m using it on a Nikon Z8, so this could be the result of a larger camera body.

This works really well with my Fujifolm X100V

I bought the Micro Clutch primarily for my X100V. It is quicker to slip on and off than my wrist strap, but it feels just as secure. It's small, light and fits the camera well.

I'm using a L-shaped micro clutch on a Sony A7R2 and an I-shaped micro clutch on an old Contax RTS II.

Okay for Nikon Z50, but no-go with FTZ adapter

If you're a long time Nikon photographer, you've likely gone from F-mount to Z-mount lenses as you've transitioned to mirrorless. If you have, you likely have the FTZ mount that lets you use your old good F-mount lenses.
If you have the first version of the FTZ adapter, you can't use the Micro Clutch. Well, you can, but the tripod mount on the bottom of the FTZ adapter gets in the way of the tool that's in the Micro Clutch, so if you want to take your battery or SD card out, you need to take your lens off, take the Micro Clutch off, then get to your battery or SD card. That's a pretty crummy experience.
If you've got all Z-mount lenses then you're fine, but just watch out if you've got that first version of the FTZ adapter with the tripod mount on the bottom.
With a Z-mount lens on the Nikon Z50 the Micro Clutch is fine. It restricts your movement a bit, especially for getting to the front dial, but that's probably to be expected.
I will likely be putting my Micro Clutch on the shelf and just using a neck strap because I still have some F-mount lenses that I want to use.
Response from Peak DesignBy PD Team, PD Team, August 11, 2023
Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the frustration here! We're sorry to hear the micro clutch doesn't work with your set up as expected! We tried hard to accommodate as many makes and models as possible but unfortunately, there are a few out there that just don't quite work or require a little bit of a "hack" to work most optimally.
A suggestion from the design team on this would be to he buy a spare flat tool and either pocket it or drill a hole on the very end of the tool handle and put it on your keychain.

New gear protection

Peak Design Micro Clutch is my new camera protection. It's good for quickly grabbing a camera and taking shots without wearing a camera strap; sometimes, it makes my glasses fall, or it easily attaches the camera to a tripod and puts my camera back into the bag.
