Sleek, elegant and really practical

Really love the design, and this is definitively something I am going to keep on my camera at all times. I liked the original clutch a lot, but for a mirrorless camera (Canon M50 and now RP), it was too big. This product is really perfect for my RP.
Previously I have switched between the old clutch, a Slide Lite or a Leash depending on lens setup, but this is going to. be on my camera at all times from now on. The bottom fits very neatly with my camera, and the strap is easy to ignore if you don't need it for a particular shoot.

Nikon Z7 FTZ issue
on August 4, 2023
Posted by: dcap
There is a problem with the design of the L-Plate and the Nikon ZZ when using the FT adapter. Access to the tool housing is blocked by the adapter. The bottom of the micro clutch plate and the FTZ adapter are at the same level making it impossible to remove the tool when the FTZ adapter is attached to the camera. The only way to get to the tool in order to access the camera battery is to first remove the FTZ adapter from the camera, access the tool to loosen the plate and then you can get to the battery enclosure. The reverse process is to replace the FTX adapter, move the micro clutch plate to its ideal position, tighten the plate with the tool, and then slide the tool between the plate and the adapter. The magnet will pull the tool in place. This is not a good design - perhaps a future design for the L-plate would be to put the tool on the opposite side of its present location. It's possible the straight plate may be better suited but it would still have to be on in reverse orientation so the tool faces the back of the camera. The only other way around this is to carry the tool separately which then makes it easy to lose or forget and then you cannot get to the camera battery. This is a shame because otherwise it is a beautiful piece of machined work.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the frustration here! We're sorry to hear the micro clutch doesn't work with your set up as expected! We tried hard to accommodate as many makes and models as possible but unfortunately, there are a few out there that just don't quite work or require a little bit of a "hack" to work most optimally.

A suggestion from the design team on this would be to he buy a spare flat tool and either pocket it or drill a hole on the very end of the tool handle and put it on your keychain.

Great improvement in regular clutch

Great grip and size, base is flat (of course it is, but I like it that there's the option, without tripod plate, to use the clutch without the bump of the old plate or anchor, works better with PD strap as well.

PD Micro Clutch.... Just awesome!

I received my L-plate micro clutch direct from the Kickstarter campaign... And man, it is fantastic!
I honestly can't tell you how long I've waited for exactly this product. As a professional street photographer, I "run and gun" with my trusty Fuji X-T5 in hand as I need it to be ready at a moment's notice. Having tried many "hand strap" options in the past, I was SO desperate for a compact, effective solution which would allow me to keep a firm grip on the camera, while allowing my hand to relax, AND full access to the buttons/dials. The PD Micro Clutch does just that. Honestly, it's like the guys at PD were listening in to the thoughts of street photographers everywhere.
It's light, compact, compliments the camera, and most importantly is super easy to install and use.
Well done PD, awesome job!

Quality PD Product, Minor Glitch
on August 4, 2023

My Micro Clutch arrived the day before we departed for a weeklong trip where I could only take my Lumix ZS70, not my MFT gear. Installation was somewhat disfunctional, especially attaching split ring to the eyelet. This was not a Micro Clutch design, well, maybe, flaw, but the weird design of the ZS70’s eyelets. They are not protruding, but flush and horizontal.
I exclusively utilize Manfrotto quick release system, so the included Arca-Swiss plate was tossed in my “junk” drawer. PD, if you’re listening, add the Manfrotto plate as an option.
I put the product to a test for six days and found it great to work with; no complaints!

Not good for xpro3
on August 4, 2023

I like the quality of the product and the installation was easy enough. Compared to the original clutch, I feel that the finger loop does not provide a secure enough grip for me on the xpro3. Also, the bottom plate blocks the back screen so that it only opens part way.

Thank you for the feedback and sorry for the frustration here! The X PRO 3 is a body that we tested in house and confirmed compatibility with. If you are finding that the fit & feel of the Micro Clutch is not quite where you'd prefer it, we'd recommend taking a look at this help article and the video linked in it for all the ProTips we have put together for install and adjustments to fine tune the fit for your hand and camera set up! https://pkdsn.com/mc-install-adjust

If that doesn't do the trick either, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team at info@peakdesign.com. When you submit your request, please provide a number of photos and /or videos of your set up and the details of what is not quite working for you so that our team can have as much info as possible to troubleshoot with you!

Good for small to medium size cameras
on August 4, 2023

I bought his primarily for a Sony Alpha 7C, which is a small "full-frame" camera that's about the size of a typical consumer mirrorless or DSLR camera, and it's fine. It allows me to get taht controls on the top and back while using three fingers to hold the camera. I tried it on buy larger, heavier Sony a7R5 with a typical zoom lens and it was difficult to hold the camera securely.

Micro Clutch + FujiFilm X100V is a perfect match
on August 5, 2023

My KickStarter Peak Design Micro Clutch arrived yesterday, and it’s a brilliant piece of gear.
In order to accommodate a wide range of camera bodies, the Micro Clutch comes in two versions. I ordered the I-Plate version for my FujiFilm X100V.
Comfortable and secure
As advertised, it’s a small, lightweight hand strap that is designed to be comfortable and secure when attached to mirrorless camera bodies. It is made from durable nylon webbing and features a padded, adjustable wrist strap. It’s sleek, minimalistic, and constructed from high-quality materials.
True to their word, it felt immediately comfortable and secure.
Magnets all around
This product comes with a magnetic Tripod Plate that aligns itself on the plate if you want to secure it to a tripod or a Capture Clip.
The hidden tool for tightening and loosening the plate attaches with a magnet too #amazing.
The magnets are super strong and perfectly aligned to suit their function. I like seeing Peak Design make more and more use of them (my first encounter was the tightening tool of the Mobile Tripod.
Swapping batteries
Attaching the Micro Clutch to your camera is a pretty straightforward process, and quickly removing it is even simpler.
To adjust the length of the Micro Clutch, simply pop out the notch, adjust the length, pop it back in, and tuck away the loose strap.
One full turn of the fastener screw with the magnetic included tool will allow you to slide and detach (or attach) the plate as needed.
Recommended A+++
