Missing Filter

Received this humidifier as a gift and it was working well. It's now started to tell me it's out of water when I just filled the tank and when it does run, it will randomly turn off.
I saw that others have a filter sponge in the tank, which I definitely did not get with my unit. This would be very helpful as I find I have to do a deep clean of the unit weekly because of the amount of build up as I live in a place where we have VERY hard water. Purchasing the recommended distilled water by Levoit is not reasonable. I also live in an extremely dry and cold climate, using 6L of distilled or filtered water daily would get expensive very quickly! So again, that filter would be incredibly useful and save me a lot of time, as well as wear on the unit.

Struggles to keep up... Using in a medium sized bedroom. Go with the 600 series instead. I came from that one and miss it.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. While the humidifier's effective range may be sufficient for a room, there are environmental factors that may affect the overall relative humidity. If the water in the tank is draining, this means that much moisture has now been added to the air. To ensure your space is as humid as possible, we recommend running the unit constantly (and perhaps at a higher mist level). I was very optimistic about this humidifier to help with our room. Unfortunately after several days of use a leak developed and the water escaped from the base unto the floor!!!! I have been waiting for a response from Levoit about this unusable unit.
