I first used this mower today. I have less than 1/4 acre and my fully charged battery completed about 1/2 of my yard I am very disappointed and expected much more for the money

Hello notdelighted,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower. It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life! This unit is advertised as running up to 60 minutes with a fully charged 5Ah battery, but it goes without saying that that the harder the unit works, the quicker the battery drains.

Here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time.

1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.

2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.

3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.

4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.

5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed.

We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). We are happy to help you further. All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

Not Worth It

I’ve had this mower for almost three months now and I mow every other week. I only have .25 acres the first month I could mow the whole lawn with no issue, the second month I had to recharge one batteries to finish (three full batteries), and now I can’t even mow half of my yard with both batteries full. Not sure if I got faulty batteries but it’s ridiculous that it takes me 5 hours to mow my .25 acre lawn because I have to wait for batteries to charge.
Pros: Quiet

Hello SabsBurch,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
We are sorry to hear that the unit has not fully met your expectations. The overall battery life is dependent on many factors such as where they have been stored, charged, and handled. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. It is recommended to store the battery with a full charge, and if it is being stored for a period where no use is expected, to check on the charge every couple of months. If you notice the charge has dropped, we advise charging the battery back up to full before returning it to its safe storage place. Following these steps will ensure you receive the most of the battery life. Runtimes can vary depending on a few factors, including but not limited to if the self-propel feature is used throughout the entire cut, grass texture and consistency, cutting height, and lawn size. If you wish to address your concerns directly with one of our Product Experts, please contact us by chatbot through the customer contact page located on our website on www.greenworkstools.comor call Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see whether your run time and battery life would be considered average.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I previously owned a corded, 120V electric Greenworks mower. It cut great, better than any gas mower i ever owned. I grew tired of dealing with the cord. I only considered Greenworks for a battery powered mower because my othe Greenworks mower was so great. Needless to sat this mower is awesome. Cuts great. I can do my entire yard with the 5ah battery. The power is not even an issue. 100% would recommend this mower.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Environmentally Safe, Effective, Powerful

The thing can be an animal. It's capable of dragging you behind it the battery lasted for an hour with only one bar used! The purchase was the correct one for my lawn. I used it as a mulcher will use the bag next time and see the result.

Purchased the 21" self-propelled model. Honest review in my opinion. Assembly directions were a little lacking, but able to complete using youtube video. Mower is fantastic for cutting and noise level. Only downside, the self propelled rate is a moderate walk on highest level and snails pace on lowest level compared to a self-paced mower. Love how compactly mower folds up to store. Also, saw online it is recommended to spray cutting deck with silicon spray to ease cleanup. No water cleanup.
