I like that it has its own app and can also be controlled in the nanit app. I love that you can pick from a range of colors but it was difficult to get the color I wanted (what I selected on the screen was not what showed up on the sound machine-color was off), but eventually I figured it out. I like that I could set times to turn the sound and colors on/off at a specific time. It was one less thing to remember while having a newborn. Overall, very happy with the product.

Design over function

The Nanit Sound + Light is great for a 'smart' sound machine, but does have a learning curve to it and you should be mindful of who's going to be using this device. Like other modern 'smart' devices, sometimes these things prioritize design over function. As a result, easily accessible physical buttons are lacking and control is based on using the app, and your pre-emptively learning how to use the 1-second, 2-second, etc. touches to the top the unit. My wife and I had to read the instructions clearly and practice using the machine. Unfortunately, there is little likelihood that grandparents are going to get comfortable with either the app or touch-sensitive buttons, so they rely on us to turn it on and off for them.
Otherwise, great sound and light, fun to use, but one of those things that I wish the designers prioritized ease of use more -- especially for a user-group who's likely already committing some hands and attention to babies, bottles, diapers, etc.

I have been using my sound and light machine every night. Its a great, easy tonise product. With all the night time feedings, the adjustable light makes it easy to see what I’m doing while keeping it dark enough to get my baby easily back to sleep. The different sound options are great too for added comfort. I have my machine to automatically start playing at a certain time to help me keep on track of bedtume routines.

Nanit Sound and Light Machine Review
We recently purchased the Nanit sound and light machine, and it has quickly become an essential part of our nursery setup. The sound quality is outstanding, providing a soothing and calming ambiance that helps our little one drift off to sleep peacefully. The variety of sound options is impressive, catering to different preferences and ensuring we find the perfect fit for our baby's needs.
Another feature we love is the customizable light color options. It allows us to adjust the lighting to create the ideal environment for both playtime and bedtime. The soft glow is just right for nighttime feedings and diaper changes, helping maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
However, one feature we wish the Nanit could improve is the ability to set a specific time to turn off the clock display. This would be similar to what the Hatch offers and would help minimize distractions during the night as we settle down for sleep. As it stands, the display stays on throughout the night, which can be a bit bright in a dark nursery.
Overall, the Nanit sound and light machine excels in sound quality and lighting options. With a few tweaks, it could be the perfect all-in-one device for any nursery!
