Great Rack

This is my second Thule hitch mount bike rack. Had an older T2. Great improvements and made it a lot easier. The way it mounts to hitch and locks is so much easier than prior version. Also the grab handle on top to lower is simpler as well. My only comment is that mounting the bike trays to that little metal piece is a little challenging.

Great rack, cheap locking mechanisms
on September 25, 2023

I did like this bike rack but the locking mechanism to the rack itself was very cheap. My bike rack was stolen off my hitch even though it was locked on there. Pretty bummed to spend so much on a nice rack to have it not even actually be secure even after following all of the locking instructions. So disappointed. My hitch itself wasn’t damaged which leads me to believe there is an easy way to mess with the locking knob to get it off the hitch fairly easily. Buy an extra lock for security!’

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Thule T2 Pro X. I understand your frustration with the bike rack being stolen. It truly is an unfortunate situation.
Thule locks provide a baseline of security for product and serve as a theft deterrent. However, a dedicated thief with the right tools and enough time can circumvent most security measures. If an accessory is planned to go unsupervised for an extended period of time, Thule always recommends additional security measures like external locks or removing the rack for storage in a secure area, as well as removing the bike rack when not in use..

great rack, good price, needs a longer strap

I bought this to replace the Thule Camber that did not support my new full suspension bike. Easy to put together and operate, the only drawback I found was that the ratchet strap for the rear wheel is shorter than I would like to see. It barely fits my wheel when tire is pumped up near full. Only grabs 3 "teeth" max. Other than that it is great, the bike sits steady on the rack.

I've own mine for almost two years, it is very durable and easy to use. How would I go about and get a replacement key for the Thule lock? I have misplaced the key after I moved from California.

Overall, this is a great bike carrier. There were a few things I was concerned with that I will highlight. There is no instructions that came in the packaging, I found a YouTube video which the “expert” installed the front tire holders backwards. If you have a child’s bike, you cannot secure the back tire because of the distance between, unless the front tire holder is backwards of course, so that worked out in my favor.
It does not come with locks, so you have to order those separately and you’ll have different keys. The rack is extremely heavy, so if you can’t do a farmers carry of at least 100 lbs, make sure you have someone to help you carry/ move/ install or remove from your vehicle. Also it is quite stiff to fold up and down. With all of that, it is still a great bike carrier and secured my MTB on the highway without issue. Very stable even at 80 mph.

I can only give about half stars because 2 locking nuts were missing, making one of the securing arms unusable. Otherwise seems solid.

Well Built & Nice Features

While this isn't a long term review, there are already things I really like about this rack and things I could see becoming a potential issue in the future. This rack is very solidly built - some would say too much so... It's not light. Features I really like - the receiver tightening system, the built-in "auto" pin, and the solid feel of the lever handle. Bikes fit nicely and I've had no issue positioning them. There are a couple things I'm not a fan of - the ratcheting strap for the rear wheel is quite short. I have a set of 45mm carbon wheels and it barely reaches the clasp - this could be a major issue for many wheel sets. Despite what the product description says, the frame arm does have frame/fork contact. Thule knows this and provides protective tape for your bike. I personally have not had an issue with this, but it seems like an avoidable issue that will turn a lot of people off. Lastly, I live in a northern climate and the steel build could lend itself to rust in the future. Overall it's a great rack and I haven't had any issues, but I can see potential flaws causing some in the future.
