Not Large Enough to Carry Two a Large Ebikes
on March 3, 2020

This rack was great. Small footprint for storage, easy to open and mount on vehicle. I just happen to have two large Ebikes and could've get them both on the rack. The rack would be perfect fore mountain bikes.

Wow, after reading and watching videos on this rack for my ebike I went and bought it, solid and easy to use, I wish it had the longer straps for the fat tires, bought them and works well,
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thanks NickHark. Your comments convinced me to go ahead and buy this product. I have nearly the exact situation as you. 2018 Chevy Volt. 2 Giant Trance E 2 eBikes. Getting a 1.25" hitch installed at u haul on Tuesday. But the guy at the bike store said that this model required a 2". Glad I came to the website to check the user manual and noticed your comment.

My husband and I have extremely expensive Riese & Müller e-bikes. Our first time out, the c-clamp failed which caused the tilt latch to release and my bike ended up dragging along the freeway. No bumps, smooth road, only one gentle curve. It’s not a total loss, but when I think of what could have happened, I’m appalled they sell this to anyone, especially at the price they charge for it. Also severely burnt my fingers removing it as the metal was hot. :0(

Awkward

Bought this because it is rated for the weight of e-bikes and one of the few racks that can handle a heavy bike with fenders. But the rack is awkward. Even though the clamps can move around the inverted-U-shaped mount, the rigid arm of the clamp doesn't offer enough mounting options on the bike frame — especially if your e-bike has a thick down-tube. If you have water bottle holder(s), a pump, or any other accessories mounted in the internal triangle of the bike (e.g., on the downtube or seat tube), it will interfere with positioning the clamps. This difficulty is compounded when trying to carry two bikes that have accessories mounted in the internal triangle. This rack has some cool design features. But it lacks the kind of flexibility that an over-the-tire clamp can offer fender-less bikes. It is the best rack out there I can find for an e-bike. But this is not the nicest rack I've ever used.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Thule EasyFold XT 2. Such customer input is very important to Thule's design and development process.
The Thule EasyFold XT 2 is designed to fit around most standard frame sizes, with adjustable mounting positions thanks to the clamp grips. Sometimes, different bikes will need to be secured different places along the frame, depending on the location of the battery. Accessories can interfere with the fitment of the bike rack. Unfortunately, this is difficult to accommodate into the design due to the wide array of possible accessories available for different bikes. Thule generally recommends removing accessories prior to transporting bikes on Thule bike racks.

Does not fit my two inch receiver.

I did a longer trip with bikes on a trailer. The clamp on the rack dislodged and the bike dragged. Had to replace the seat and derailer and handlebars. I now use a cable to secure them with the clamps. They should be formed to come together instead of pinching to secure the wider electric bike frames. I also am not able to secure it to a new Ram truck without using duct tape. truck. The hole in the receiver is centered and the hole where the clip goes into the rack is offset enough that it won't engage. I have to duct tape a bolt into the hole on the opposite side. It does not have threads and does not go all the way through.

Good product but with reservations.

* The horizontal bar of the vertical attachment structure is too low for regular and e bikes that can only use top tube clamping. An adjustable height horizontal bar arrangement should be an option.
The loading ramp is unnecessary for most riders and should be an option.

Buyer Beware

I bought this item to transport e-bikes. I have a Mazda CX3. I had an offer market hitch installed. Based in the weight restrictions for the rack and hitch, I was well within the recommended weight. I loaded up two e-bikes and off I went. I bottomed out three times. This resulted in damaging the bike rack, and either the hitch is bent or the frame of my car. I discovered this when the hitch was vibrating against the muffler. I'm still trying to figure out the next steps. I strongly advise that drivers of a Mazda CX3 find another way to transport e-bikes.
Very disappointed!
