I thought I used every precaution. Buyer beware

I read all the reviews, so I was wary. l also watched 4 YouTube videos on this Easyfold XT2. Brand new Ebikes and rack for a 7 day trip. Day 3 one bike fell off. I am a checker! I checked the rack every time I got out of the car and again before I hit the road. I marked where the hitch went into the receiver to make sure it was secure . I marked where the tires should sit so make sure the straps were correct. I truly believe that the longer gripper came undone. I should have put the bungee cords on which I had with me. I believe the design is flawed. I have major damage to my bike. I’m hoping Thule will help with the repairs

Bikes fall off easily

Twice now my the back bike has fallen off the rack after the long clamp just let go. The first time I figured it was a fluke, but now that it has happened again I'm convinced it is a design/manufacturing flaw. This is too expensive of a rack for this to be happening - and I see from many reviews that it is indeed a common problem. My handlebar was severely damaged both times.

Not For Low-Step Bikes/e-Bikes

I had hoped that this would be the solution to a fairly common problem - low step bikes with fenders. The hanging racks won't work with low-step and the hook type can't be used with fenders. According to to Thule support this needs a crossbar for the clamps.
With an increasing number of low step bikes, especially e-bikes, being sold can we have a solution that has wheel trays and clamp onto the seat tube, seat post, headset or stem?

This rack saved our e bikes from getting stolen!

We recently bought 2 ebikes and needed a bike rack for them. We needed it to swing out so we could open up the back doors of our van. We bought the Thule EasyFold XT 2. We were camping at KOA Moss Landing, CA, just last night when we woke up to 2 thieves trying to yank the bikes off the bike rack. They had cut a 3/4" cable lock with a tool they brought with them. We woke up in time to scare them off. We are so very happy with this bike rack! It saved us lots of $$$.
We bought this from your San Jose store. The women who work there were very knowledgeable as well as the manager, Chris. Thank you for making a great bike rack!

2 E-bikes on a Rav4

We carry a Trek Allant 9.9 and a Trek Allant 8s on a small suv. It was a little bit of a puzzle to load the 1st time. Once we figured out the right position of our pedals it has been awesome. I feel confident with 10,000 worth of Ebikes on the back. We do add a heavy chain lock if parked out of sight.

Good, bad and I’m not so sure it’s for ebikes

The good is the rack is sturdy and easy for this 67 year old to hook up to the hitch also the wheels do make it easy to move around. Bad is the ramp that comes with it was useless for the height of my SUV, which means I need to lift and hold. Not easy! Not sure it’s really designed for ebikes since the grab arm clamps have to be positioned just right on some part of the ebike frames or it will not hold ( ebike frames tend to be bulkier) it would be a trick to secure 2 bikes!!!

Built more for style than sturdiness
on March 3, 2020

While rated at 130 lbs and the specifications indicated the rack supports ebikes, fat tires and up to 130 lbs , the carrier had excessive play at the hitch (at this price point I would have expected some type of tensioner or spring loaded type solution to minimize the excessive play between the hitch opening and rack insert ), and seemed to struggle holding my 2 ebikes total weight of 120 lbs. The rack tilted down from the weight ,and combined with the excessive play, I did not feel it would be safe to take this on the road. Also, despite saying the rack supports fat tires, the wheel straps were not long enough to lock down both wheels at the same time.

Ships with soft screws and they strip too easily.
using a regular allan wrench... the screws stripped when removing the 2 to 1 inch hitch adapter.
hopefully I can find some better quailty to screws and a stripped
