I have bought this rack for Florida home and now for Virginia. Easy to put on car and easy to connect ebikes.

Not suitable for 2nd bike if 1st bike is an e-bike

I have an electric bike that has the battery built into the approx. 45° angle down tube. We couldn't find any place on the U shape that would allow for attachment with the long arm to a 2nd traditional bike as the e-bike blocked everything up. To secure the 2nd bike we used the wheel straps and a rope to tie the bike to the frame. Happily it was for short medium medium speed distances, I would not do a highway or long distance trip with a 2nd bike secured in this manner. My positive feeling is that the locking system is terrific.
I simply love everything about this rack. Easy to install on hitch, easy to load bike with the included ramp, lock downs are secure. Never a fear of the bike falling off. Took it to Crested Butte CO for its maiden voyage and it passed with flying colors
The only complaint about this rack is the price but it is actually worth it to me. It has a superior design and toe hitch with the pin lock is better than the otd pin and nut one or key. My wife can actually load the e bikes with the hidden ramps and wheel it around rather than lugging around the old. The hinge foot pedal works effortlessly and allows access to the rear hatch of our X3.

Great carrier! Lousy ramp!

The carrier is perfect for this 75 year old and his heavy bike a 35 lb Electra Townie with a 16 lb, electric assist Copenhagen Wheel mounted on the back to help me enjoy a lot more years of riding. I'm totally happy with how easily the carrier mounts to the receiver. And very happy with the way the frame clamps and wheel straps keep the bike solidly attached to the carrier.
What I'm really, really unhappy with is the loading ramp an absolute necessity for wheeling a heavy bike like mine up onto the carrier. It's made of aluminum: much too thin and lightweight; prone to twisting and warping; with hooks that easily slip out of their mounting slits in the wheel wells. As far as I'm concerned, light weight is not a necessity for the ramp. Something strong and stable enough to do the job is. Steel comes to mind. Please offer a steel ramp as an accessory!

Need additional tie downs

We went over a bad bump and the bikes popped out of the Acutight clamps and were dragged behind the truck (the tire wraps held the bike on the platform). We had to get the shifter and grips replaced. We now use additional ties to hold the bikes on. Maybe a design that has clamps that wrap completely around the bike so there is no chance of them popping out.

Clamps are not reliable to secure bikes.

If you travel on smooth pavement this works well. We have been on gravel roads and also had to traverse road construction with small bumps. Twice the bikes have come free from the C clamps fortunately due to bungy cord the bikes did not fall off carrier. For the price this is very unreliable.

Handles the weight
on March 3, 2020

The rack handles the weight perfectly. However, our e bikes were stolen off this rack. Someone jabbed a knife into the lock, twisted and broke the lock allowing the handle to unscrew and open the jaws. Make sure you have a cable lock or something in additional to the cheap Thule locks.
