Cheaply made plastic version of 1-up bike rack

Thought maybe this rack would provide a new creative way to hold bikes but instead appears to be a cheap plastic version of 1-up bike rack. Surprised a company like Thule wouldn’t try to be a little more creative and come up with their own design.

Another rack that hides the license plate on your vehicle providing law enforcement the reason to pull you over and write you a ticket. One up racks provide a solution to this issue while Thule ignores it.

Easy to use, but...

We purchased in June this year. Our intent, like so many, was to avoid going stir crazy, explore new trails, have fun. Thisrack is indeed easy to use, allows acess to the back and integrated lock is one less worry. HOWEVER- you cannot leave your rear or front racks on your bike! We carry stuff, to enjoy a picnic, change a flat, lock our bike at the destination. It’s a real pain to remove the rear bike rack to transport the bike. We don’t have fenders on our bikes, but those would get in the way as well. We spent $$$ on a rack intending to use it for lots of shorter trips. The fact that it covers the license plate is a constant worry as well. We are activly looking for a replacement.

Where is the state plates and taillights on display car. I own a jeep and ran into conflicts before!!!!
Change the plate, you need to relight the plate State Standards ETC
Other than that looks good .. Too expensive for 2 Bicycles.
Just my info! Thanks Ron

I am selling the Helium Platform XT after three years of use. It worked fine for the first two, but then two of the arms broke around the same time. I've used a lot of hitch racks, but this is one of the most poorly designed I've seen, and I'm not surprised it's falling apart. It's a pretty flimsy cable attachment inside the arms and they started to seize up after a while, and the only remedy was to buy new ones. One of the cable lock keyholes busted from its plastic casing and it didn't take long for the rack to develop a rattle while driving. I won't be buying Thule bike racks any longer.

Hello Matt, Thank you for alerting us to the issue with your Thule Helium Platform XT. I am sorry to hear about the poor operation of the ratcheting arms. This sounds like something that would be best assessed by Thule's warranty team. All new Thule products are covered under a limited lifetime guarantee for material and manufacturing defects. You can contact Thule's warranty team to see what options for resolution are available using the link below: https://www.thule.com/en-us/about-thule/warranty

Looks and Functions Great!!!

This is a solid rack and it's really expensive. The look and simplicity of it is what I was looking for along with holding the bikes by the tires and not touching any other part of the bike. Assembly is easy, the bolts are tight, antisieze on the bolts is good idea if you ever need to take it apart. The clear anodized finish on aluminum apears to be durable and scratch resistant. I have a 29er hardtail with 3.0" wider tires and it fits no problem. Wider than 3.0" and it might be an issue. This rack will be seeing alot of rain, dust and mud here in the PNW. We'll see how well it's built.
The issue I have is the center section of the rack has a small part loose and when you move it up and down you can hear it slidiing around in there. What do I do? Can I disassemble it? Please reach out and advise. Thanks!

FANTASTIC BIKE RACK!!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to take our bikes out, our old one would take the paint off the bikes as we drove, not very stable. This one keeps them locked down and they do not touch when you go over bumps. Very well built, great materials were used in the construction, we have had numerous bike racks over the years and this one by far is the best we have ever had. If you are in need of a new bike rack and want to keep you expensive bikes secure this is the one for you. Highly recommend!!!
