The need for a separate Turbo version Joule App is disappointing and (I should have guessed) the fact that Turbo does not work with frozen items.
I would give the new unit a qualified recommendation for now, and for sure when the App is "corrected" so that legacy Joule and Turbo Joule share the same app.
I purchased this a month ago after reviewing many kinds in utube and their comparison brands . Glad I choose this . The power and phone menus and guidelines are easy to use .
After my old Joule bit the dust after 4 years of long cooks and constant use, I got the new Turbo. The connectivity between the wi-fi, bluetooth and the app seems to be better; no waiting for a temperature update now. It gets to temperature a bit faster than the old stick. But really, it didn't need to get better on the cooking function, because it was already great to begin with. The ability to start the cook while I'm still at the grocery store is great.
Glad I bought the Joule Turbo sous vide—I haven’t looked back. Easy to use—WiFi works well from my cell phone. If you just follow the directions for your recipe you’ll get perfect results. I’ve done asparagus as well as ribeye steaks, chicken and fish filets. Everything has come out juicy and flavorful. What a difference compared to stove, oven or grill cooking. Trying to get my buddy to invest in one—he’s really thinking about it!!
I only learned about the sous vide method of cooking about two months ago and, because it sounded so simple and effective, I decided to invest in the purchase of one. I could not be any happier with my decision to do so. As an alternative to generic cooking, sous vide has proven to be a super alternative. The ability to obtain a perfect temperature without the concern of ruining the item, due to overcooking, is exceptional. Love this new way to cook!
