The new Joule is slimmer and a much faster Sous Vide tool than the original. It works great! My only beef (pun intended) is the new app, which is keeping this from a 5-star review. I download the app to my iPad, which is my primary device in the kitchen, and you get an app that was created for a phone. No way to bring it to full screen on the iPad. This is a developer issue that really should be resolved soon. It is not anywhere as user friendly as the original.
I was an early adopter of the first Joule and am an avid long term subscriber to Chef Steps. I have other Breville products, including the new Joule oven. I was quite excited to get the Turbo however, when I received it, it would not work on my Wi-Fi systems. After much back and forth with Breville/Chef Steps it appears that the Turbo will not work in a Wi-Fi 6 (.ax vs. b,g,n) wifi environment. Breville’s solution was for me to get inside my router to turn off WiFi 6/.ax capability. Unfortunately, this is not possible on newer Comcast or Xfinity XFi systems, making the Turbo pretty much useless for what it was meant to do. The original Joule continues to work quite well in my environment so the change to a new Wi-Fi chip/software does not appear to have been a good idea. I did test the Turbo on an older wifi system and it worked however, I am not interested in sacrificing efficiency, speed and capability for someone else's design flaws.

Thank you for that feedback. I'll definitely pass it along to the proper people/departments. We do value customer's input. Just reach out if future questions arise.
The Joule Turbo is a good Sous Vide device with a OK App. But the app is trashed up with a lot of garbage when the app is opened unlike the app for the non turbo device. The Turbo feature is also over hyped. It only seems to be useful for steaks and some chops. And the time savings are not that big a deal. Not worth upgrading from an older Joule.

If you're going to promote an upgrade to existing Joule users on our app, then you should clearly state that only a small minority of recipes can actually take advantage of the turbo function rather than stating that you can cut cooking times by up to 50% without any other info.
I feel like Breville cheated me. And to add insult to injury, you removed some of the Joule recipes I've been using. Why would you do that?
I upgraded for no reason and wasted my money. If I hadn't already promised my original Joule to a friend, I would be returning.

Not an Upgrade

Received the Joule turbo sous vide upgrade the other day. We have been through two of the regular Julie souv vides since 2019. They don’t last a long time and I thought after the second one went bad, we would upgrade. I found out right away. The turbo sous vide requires a new app, and the old app doesn’t work. The new app is very unimpressive not user-friendly and the reason I returning this turbo sous vide.

We would very much like to see if we can assist you. We do have an account for you in our system. I'll be sending you an email shortly. Just reply to it, and I'll be happy to see how we can help you from there
I’ve been a Joule owner since 2016 & it’s still the best consumer grade sous vide available. It just works. The new Turbo promises shorter cook times due to its predictive engine. But, it’s only available for a small # of built in recipes. You can’t take your favorite like say a whole Picanha or Cowboy ribeye & Turbo cook it in 1/2 the time. I had to buy another when my older one died, but don’t buy it thinking it’s going to dramatically sped up your cooks.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been using the regular sous Vide for over year, then up graded to the turbo, and yes I am loving the speed of the heat up of the turbo over the old sous vide, the only thing I am not loving is the lay out of the new app, copared to the old app, it just seems like hard work just to do simple things, please rethink this and if possible if you can't change the new app then at least allow the turbo to be used with the old app.
I have the original model and liked it so much I decided to add the turbo. The app for the standard one showed the capability to add a second one but that does not work. Finally downloaded the new app to work with the turbo but it didn’t allow me to add the old one. Inconvenient but I operate each one separately with their own apps. Great food
