Far too firm and uncomfortable. Still has a strong odor nearly 2 months after unboxing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have bought three tuft & needle mattresses over the years for all of our beds. Every one of them are beautifully made and so very comfortable. I love how they arrive: all wrapped up tightly. I open the wrapping, and they expand to full size in only minutes! They are the best mattresses. Not too soft and not too hard. Just right.
We were in the market for a new bed to replace our boxspring and mattress. A friend recommended a Tuft & Needle bed. We were a bit hesitant because we had never owned a platform bed. We went over to her house to test drive her bed and thought we’d give it a try. We upgraded from a queen to a king which was nice. What I can tell you is that I no longer have back pain, nor numb hands during the night. In fact, the only issue I have with the bed is that I tend to stay in bed longer in the morning because I’m so comfortable. Awesome bed, so happy we gave it a try.
We got our mattress about 6 years ago and wanted to give a long term update. For context, we're both back and side sleepers and are both tall and thin (6' 1", 160 lbs and 5' 7", 125 lbs). Overall, we're happy with our mattress. It was comfortable from day one and, about 6 years later, it's still quite comfortable. We're happy to get in bed every night and never wake up feeling lousy because of the mattress. It did eventually develop indentations where we sleep but that took about 4 years to finally happen. Hopefully the mattresses they make today are the same as what we bought 6 years ago.
Beware: this mattress doesn't feel the same as it did previously

I'm sure the T&N website won't keep my 1-star review, but maybe they will see this: this mattress is notably worse than than it used to be. I bought T&N's "original" mattress in 2017 and again in 2021, and both times it was fantastic. But I bought one again in December 2023 and this is not the same mattress it used to be. The "base layer" of foam support is now one-inch smaller than it used to be (went from 7.5 inches in previous models to 6.5 inches currently) and boy does it make a difference. I am sinking so far into this mattress, which never used to happen. I prefer a firmer mattress, and the previous Tuft & Needle mattresses fit the bill, but the "updated" version of the same model does not. Back pain and discomfort all around. If you bought T&N before, be aware that this "original" model has changed.
