Disappointed with 2nd purchase

We purchased a King size original in 2018. We were so impressed. Slept on it about a year and for health reasons purchased a queen size, about a year later for our second bedroom which I have slept on. The firmness of the two is noticeably different . The queen is soft. I wake up with pain in my hips and arms. We had company over for the week so I slept on the King with no discomfort. I phoned into T & N previously to review with them and they dismissed my concern saying that there will be differences from mattress to mattress. If this is true then they have a significant manufacturing and quality control issue.

Great support at first...

If you had asked me about this mattress when I first bought it four years ago, I would've said it was great. Great shipping, easy to unpack, etc etc etc. But starting after about two years, it definitely isn't as firm as it used to be. Now almost four years in, it's gotten to the point where I turn my mattress every week or so, but with practically has no effect... Sad that I have to replace a mattress after only a few years!
For the record, I'm only 105 lbs and I'm a side sleeper.

This is our 3rd ruff and needle mattress. The first 2 we have LOVED so when we needed a new mattress for our daughter we bought another but this one has not seemed to be the same quality. It did not expand as much as the others and feels much harder.

Pain on pressure points

I bought a Tuft & Needle Full Sized mattress a year ago, and find it has become progressively more uncomfortable, due to pressure points on my hips and shoulders. I now wake up multiple times during the night, and have a lot of hip pain when I wake up in the morning, causing me to limp for about a half hour when I first wake up.

Pure Pain

I bought this two years ago, and I would say it took about a year and a half for things to start to get really painful on my lower back and upper shoulders. I sleep on my back and I’m 106 lbs, so maybe this is too firm for my body type. But usually I’m in so much pain that I move to my side, and then I’m back and forth all night. It just doesn’t hold like other memory foam mattresses that slowly contour to your curves. Nope, it’s kind of bouncy and way too firm at night. Yet if you sit on the side, you fall off from from the lack of structure. This bed confuses me, and I hate it.

I bought an original T+N queen size back in 2016. I still have it, and it is hands down my favorite mattress I’ve ever bought. When I needed a twin, I ordered what the website calls “The Original Tuft + Needle”. After trying to sleep on it for one night, I have had to ask to return it. My back was uncomfortable within an hour of lying on it, and after six hours I gave up and had to sleep elsewhere. The new mattress is far softer than my original one, and not at all supportive. I did a little research, and discovered that the company changed the base layer foam in 2018, after they were bought out by Serta. It is misleading and inaccurate to call the new version “The Original”. I’m very disappointed, not with T+N so much as the mattress I first bought is no longer being made. I want to note that the customer service when I called to initiate the return was excellent. All the staff I talked to were friendly, understanding, and helpful. I am told that my cost will be refunded as soon as the mattress is picked up by their return contractor. I am just reall disappointed. I had recommended T+N to a friend a couple of years ago, and he gave away his mattress because he found it way too soft as well. I have to assume that Serta made this decision for profit reasons. It’s just a shame honestly. P.s. I gave it an overall rating of five stars so this will appear at the top of the ratings. 🤫

I purchased the king size about 3 or 4 years ago and it was amazing at first. Over the past year, the mattress has completely broke down. Both my husband and I have severe back problems every morning when we wake up and we know the culprit is the bed. We've slept in other beds for trips and do not wake up with the back pain we experience after waking up in our own bed. I loved this mattress at first, but overall regret the purchase. I will say that the pillows have held up and we are still very happy with them.

Bought a full size mattress back in 2015, was ecstatic and this was something “new” and different; I mean come on… a mattress in a box!? How cool! Worked pretty well, my 10 year old never complained about it….up until he started getting this nagging cough and constant itching. Dad and I thought maybe mold….tested the walls in the room, every soft surface, had somebody come out and low and behold….they checked under the bed and TONS of sparkly substance was underneath the bed and bed frame. Mind you, the bed frame is metal. We have this frame in every other room of the house. So, we inspected some more….yep…the fiberglass is seeping through the mattress. My son already had major allergies and THIS is just the icing on the cake. Please, beware of what you are buying. Never had an issue up until now. We have never washed the cover it comes with because it clearly states not to remove. He always sleeps with sheets on, and now this…the past four years of wondering why his allergies have gotten worse and worse….all because the bed has fiberglass and now his bedroom is covered in it. So disappointed.

Hi there! Thank you for your candid feedback, we're sorry to hear your T&N Original Mattress is shedding fibers from the fire sock and your son has come in contact with them. Before 2018 we did use glass filaments in our fire sock but since then we have changed our manufacturing process to utilize a food-grade salt as the fire sock instead. We strive to provide quality sleep for years to come and back our mattresses with a 10-year limited warranty, so we're happy to take a look at what's going on. Feel free to reach out to our Customer Experience Team directly at 877-842-2586 or support@tuftandneedle.com, and we can guide you from there! Thanks again for sharing your experience, we hope to hear from you soon!
