it is a big slab of ballistic gel. had to buy a 3 inch temporpedic to make it usable. and the smell is like a sweaty butt. You asked.

Great comfort for sleeping, but for us who like to sit up in bed and read or watch TV the mattress is too soft and slopes down terribly. Cannot sit on the edge of the bed either to put shoes or pants on without it sloping and falling off. Definitely more firm in the middle than around the edges.

It was easy to shop for and receive. The mattress is comfortable, but has a little chemical off-gas smell, so for friends that want organic mattress probably not the best option, but for nice and easily mattress, good!
