Set is nice enough. I don't mind the unfinished back since it can just be displayed against a wall. Instead of excluding one or the other, can you possibly be "inclusive" to both versions of the characters? Everyone can have their preference or even use both versions to add more activity to the set. The original is so special and is what's near and dear to a lot of hearts.

5 bags in and it’s beautiful

I’m only 5 bags in and this set is blowing me away.. Everything about it brings back memories of the movie and has me singing the songs while I build.. The clamshell not being finished on the back is perfect for my already crammed shelf.. I’m not sure why other reviews decided to hate so much but so far a fun build in my book!

Super fun to build, i love all the detail! Not sure why people are so upset about the back of the clamshell being “unfinished”… you don’t really ever see the back if it’s displayed on a shelf. It personally doesn’t take away from my enjoyment <3

Was super excited for this Little Mermaid set! It was fun to build and pretty easy. Lego should add more pieces of the kingdom! Do mini figs from the original movie version as well with the sets.

Literally, nothing wrong with this set besides the back of the clam being weird and unfinished . If you have a problem with the colors of the mini figs, remember Ariel is a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. Stop being so weird.

Absolutely horrible in every way

Everything about this set is a mess. The description says there are homages to the animated movie but I don't see any since the white fish is definitely not Flounder and there is already a Sebastian figure in the real Little Mermaid sets but the one included here is a generic red crab. For fans of the original movie, you won't find anything you recognize. Instead of including one central location the set designers opted to make small snippets of different scenes that don't add up to anything. We don't get King Triton's throne room or Ursula's lair or Ariel's grotto or even a full shipwreck for Ariel to explore. Just bits and pieces that are thrown together in a half empty shell that isn't even appealing to look at. I do not understand the target audience either because the whole world grew up with the 1989 classic and this set definitely does not represent that. Easily the worst Lego set ever made. I will be very selective with my money from now on when it comes to purchasing from Disney.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
