It’s okay… kind of…

As a builder for over 15 years I have only been motivated to leave a review one other time. This set is interesting to build but it is extremely flimsy in all states during and after the build. There is 0 playability because it’s so flimsy. I know it’s a UCS set so if you are going to display it it works okay but it’s so flimsy even operating the mechanism to change the wings position normally results in parts of the fuselage falling off or becoming dislodged. This is the worst Lego Star Wars set I have bought in a very long time. I would not recommend this one. It definitely is way worse than the last one
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sleek, Collector-Worthy X-Wing

Building experience was nice and the progression is rewarding. The S-foil assembly is a little awkward but it’s workable and displays wonderfully.

This set surprised me. I bought it at the same time as the UCS Razor Crest and I did not expect it to be the better of the two.
This is the first set in over a year that I didn’t feel was overpriced. This X Wing was fun to put together, and was new and interesting even after building a half dozen other x wings.
I would recommend this set for anyone that isn’t new to LEGO or easily frustrated. There is a point during the build about 3/4 of the way through where the weight if the two lower wings is enough to where it puts pressure on the rear side panels and can pop them out of place. It’s not much of an issue, and it kept things interesting.

I was really happy when I got this set, and really enjoyed building it. I was really surprised to later read all the negative reviews about this set. I am a 50+ year old man, I am not running around the house chasing my cat with an X-Wing any more, so it's perfectly fine as a finished display piece. If I was playing with it constantly, I might see the issues others have complained about, but I am not doing that. Transformation between closed and open X-wing formation is not perfect, but it's also really clever and well designed for this set. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.

Fun but could be frustrating

I really enjoyed this build! there are some moments when piecing together the sides where things can fall apart but as long as you are careful its not so bad! The actual set is really nice - i have it next to my Star Destroyer and its a good complement to the set.
