A bit disappointed

So I’ve built a lot of the small to medium starwars sets and this is the first set that I’ve been really disappointed with the side panels are really tricky and don’t stay on it’s made the build very difficult and frustrating to build. I honestly haven’t finished it because of that every time I get finish it the side piece would pop off I even rebuilt the whole side thinking I did something wrong but nope they just keep popping off so I wouldn’t recommend this set
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

30 seconds into the build and already missing two pieces. Wow! This never happened before. What a buzz kill!

If you like it, buy it

I understand some people may have differing views on this and other sets. But in my eyes, if you like something go for it. I loved this set from the announcement, and still do. Looks great on display and I enjoyed the build.
Only gripe I have is when the wings are in the flat position, if you are holding the model the wings tend to “sag” creating a space between them
I would recommend this to a friend!

Better Than Expected

First—I’m addicted to Lego toys. That said, I’m not even a Star Wars fan, but I wanted to build a UCS something. And I had enough money to blow (doesn’t happen often). Fun build experience. Pleasantly surprised. Awesome finished product. Versed critics know what flaws to ID, and what perfection should look like. For me, I marvel at the building solutions. I can’t stop staring at it. Still not a Star Wars fan, but this model is top notch in my book.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It’s good…

Great size and external detail. Still don’t like stickers. Would like sets at this price and complexity point to come with printed pieces. Second, missing landing gear. The landing gear played significant role in the films when watching X-wings. Particularly the fore landing gear. Would have given 5 stars if there was landing gear

Weak x-wing build

This is a weak x-wing build. I can't get past package 4 without the sides constantly falling apart. This design is crap.

Very flimsy

As others have mentioned, this is a very fragile/flimsy build. The body panels are continually falling off as you try and assemble the rest of the ship. They only have a few contact points so you can barely pick it up without large sections popping off. This is only the second large Lego build I have done. The first was the 1989 Batwing and that thing is built like a tank -- so this was a major let-down. It looks great, but I can't say I would recommend it.

This is my first UCS set, and it really is a thing of beauty. I had no difficulties with the build, I found it overall very satisying. As is expected the wings get repetitive, and there were times during the build where components were loose and I was concerned I did something wrong…but then a few steps later you add something to secure everything up. If you’re on the fence about this set, forget it, just do it!
I would recommend this to a friend!
