Worst design out of all UCS X-Wings
on August 7, 2024
Posted by: Xwingfanatic
When this set is lifted up, pieces fall off on the back sides of the wings. The studless round pieces on the laser cannon arms all have gaps between them and slide around on the arm back and forth loose. I would rather have the cockpit have printed pieces versus stickers. I wish they didn’t use any stickers on UCS models. The use of rubber bands on the wings is a downgrade. There’s also some pieces that catch when opening and closing the wings. The wings in the open position will get stuck open if it’s turned all the way. The only way to get the wings closed again is to turn the knob while holding the wings further open. This has several illegal builds including placing bricks sideways between studs in the engine intakes. It felt like this entire set was designed by a team with no building skills. Worst design for the targeting system in the cockpit. I wish you guys could hire someone like Jerac to make a UCS X-wing.

Huge Let Down

I really thought this set was going to be amazing, but I was so wrong. I overlooked the ship's nose not being the correct color. During the build I was plague with missing pieces, flimsy panels falling off, and a really flimsy cheap base that doesn't hold together. The panels on the side are held in place with only a few stubs making them fall off alot, the stand is flimsy, and this x-wing seems like a money grab. I would 100% avoid buying this set.

Good, but need some modifications

Love the X-Wing fighter from back in the day, & already had the smaller set of this one, but had to have the larger & more piece count one of course!☺️ some of the build was a bit frustrating. As pieces weren’t all that secure. The sides kept falling off, but made a modification & it worked!;) I took a couple pics, as the black piece from the cockpit stuck out too much, & this mod pushed it back & lined up better imho. It’s not the most robust of my collection (currently working on the AT-AT) but love the sheer size of this one! Would recommend again —

If your set seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together. Feel free to reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV if you need assistance!

Flimsy but good looking build
on May 23, 2023

As others have noted, this one is very flimsy. However, the completed model looks great. I built the previous UCS X-wing, and while I do like the looks of the new one, the mechanism to open/close the wings is MUCH better on older model (easier to turn/less of a worry pieces are going to break off). Overall a good model, but if you have the previous version, I’d probably pass on this one unless you are a completist.

Fantastic

This is my favorite UCS set since the UCS Star Destroyer. great build, looks fantastic. My only complaint would be R2. They should have used the same piece from the 2010 Obi Wan Starfighter set.

kind of flimsy

while putting this together I noticed more parts fall off during assembly and once it was finished. It appears to be larger than USC 10240, but in reality they are about the same size. Overall is it a good build but 10240 was far better.

Save your money and avoid the frustration

Very disappointed in this set for all the reasons others have mentioned. It's flimsy and poorly designed. Pieces just fall off while it's sitting on the shelf The build itself was ok, but the finished product just doesn't have the stability it needs.

We're sorry to hear that you're disappointed with this build. If pieces aren't stable, rebuilding from an earlier stage might be necessary. Sometimes there may be a piece just slightly off from where it should be. You'll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together. We're standing by at LEGO.build/Service-BV if you need assistance!

First of all, I was missing a piece on the stand. However, knowing lego’s reputation, I expect to have it replaced since it wasn’t on the actual fighter, but on the stand. I’m a 32 year old and this is my second Lego set I’ve ever built. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and saw this after watching the original trilogy on tv over Christmas and I had to get it. The flimsiness comments are from either people that try to speed build or don’t know how to follow directions. It’s a model for 18+, so if you’re playing with a model as an 18 year old, you may need to reevaluate your situation. If your kid wants to play with it, don’t let them, there are instructions at the front of the manual on how to hold the model correctly. Again, follow instructions and panels won’t fall off as others have said. Kind of funny seeing Lego snobs complain about this, clear indication they just speed build their sets. It’s a beautiful set and the engineering on it is amazing. Kudos to Lego designers, don’t know how they do this stuff.
