The Direct-to-WiFi display is easy to read and is a great upgrade from older AcuRite displays. We had difficulty connecting to our ISP's WiFi hub, though, and eventually switched to the Access interface to allow web connection. Your mileage may vary, but as always, you can rely on AcuRite to help in the event you had any issues.
I like the black background, but the wind numbers are dark rust and barely show up when you are 6 feet away. Note how hard they are too see in the photo below.
We have had a AcuRite (5-in-1) for many years. We live fulltime in a large motorhome and rely on our weather station in many locations across the US. I upgraded to the Direct-to-WiFi Display for the sole purpose of being able to monitor weather conditions and TEMPERATURES while we are away from the RV. Very dissatisfied with the device NOT having the capability to transmit the indoor temperature. We often need to leave our dog alone in our rig and purchased this upgrade specifically to monitor interior temps as part of our attempt to rectify the situation.
When it works, it's great. Unfortunately I get a "loss of signal" frequently even though I am less than 50 feet from the unit and batteries are fresh. Disappointing, to say the least.
This unit works great when it works. When first used the display would disconnect from my wifi for no reason. Been ok for about 3 weeks now. I use it mostly on my phone as I have summer and winter homes. Acurite set ups at both places. This screen is too dim in the day.
