First, let me say I am fan of Acrurite 5-in-1 Weather Station. This is my second purchase in 5 or 6 years. This review is in regards to the Weather Station and Wi-Fi display I purchased on 11/20/2022. Sadly, I had trouble connecting to my Wi-Fi network. I asked for help from AcuRite support. A person named Yosdany was able to provide me enough information to make connection and thus see My AcuRite online or through the app. Unfortunately, I was only connected to my Wi-Fi and My AcuRite account for a few hours. Again, I contacted Yosdany. We tried a few things to make the connection. I could connect to my Wi-Fi but see a weather update on My AcuRite app or the website. Yosdany was convinced that my Display was defective so he arranged to have a new display sent to me. I considered that very good costumer service. Sadly, the new display could connect to my Wi-Fi but would not connect to My AcuRite app or My AcuRite account online. I wrote Yosdany about the trouble I was having with the newest display. That email to Yosdany was sent on 12/15/22. I have not heard back from AcuRite support yet. I attached three photos that illustrate that I am connected to Wi-Fi but I can not connect to My AcuRite. This is the email I sent to Yosdany on 12/15/22. Yosdany, I appreciate the effort you have shown to get my 5-in-1 up and running, but the new unit you sent me is showing the same results. I have no problem connecting to my Wi-Fi network. But sadly, My AcuRite website and app are not being updated. As before, I am attaching photos of my efforts. Is there anything else we should be trying? Thanks again for your help. Gary
First thing I found out was we could not see our inside temperature via the app. Seemed like everything I could find online suggested this would be there. I contacted support, they confirmed that feature is not available on this unit. Guess I could buy an add on, bought a WiFi thermostat instead. The other thing is the rain gauge. The unit was up for two weeks and the rain gauge stopped working. Not clogged with debris, just stopped working. I brought the unit down and rest everything and changed the channel. Found this tip online, and it worked. If this continues to happen I'll be sending the unit back for a refund.
I have owned the AcuRite Iris (5-in-1) for a few weeks now. The most important feature for us is the rain gauge which we use for gardening (got tired of the glass tubes freezing and breaking). I have found it to be extremely accurate when using the New York State Mesonet weather stations as reference devices. When I first installed it, the temp was off compared to Mesonet and also an AcuRite thermometer that is setup with the sensor in a stevenson screen located in the shade for accuracy. However, the Iris is designed to allow me to calibrate it which made it unbelievably accurate. I also love the "My AcuRite" app on the phone and Web for remote data access. Great job AcuRite!
Easy to set up and was purchased to replace older model I had for over 13 years. My old display synced with this so I have two now one upstairs and downstairs..
It is really amazing how much value for dollar an armchair meteorologist can get from one of these weather stations. And with the simple (and free) link-up with Weather Underground you can easily share the weather at your location to family and friends around the world.
I like the Wi-Fi, because I can see the weather at my home when I'm out on the road. It was very easy set up. I did get tripped up a little on settings with the Wi-Fi. Once I figure what the instructions where telling me, it was easy sailing from there.
This was a warranty replacement for a defective display purchased earlier this year. I am still undecided as to whether this was a good purchase. One thing is sure - Acurite needs to seriously improve their tech support. Not having a number to call means that the customer does not get help in a timely basis. Back-and-forth email over s period of several days or weeks is not acceptable. Also, the person who tried to help me was not aware of several aspects of bringing the product online and that caused more confusion. Basically my whole customer service experience felt as if I were being helped by someone who did not read my resposes and did not know critical pieces of information.
