Excellent value; easy installation

The included window kit (with expansion pieces for use on patio doors) is a quick and simple install. The "base" piece was too tall for my window so I measured and scored it with a knife, then snapped off the excess. That alone took more time than the rest of the installation. The unit rolls easily from room to room. Controls are simple and the batteries for the remote controller are included.. Definitely recommend over a window unit, simply for peace of mind (and no balancing necessary).

Works well and nicely made.

I wanted an LG portable AC, but the big box store that sells them has poor quality web order pickup service.
I took a chance on this as the Best Buy staff have always nailed the curbside orders, and I needed something quickly.
This is my first Danby product and I'm very impressed by the build quality and nice plastic it is made of- it doesn't feel or look cheap.
The remote is nice too with good tactile buttons and comes with batteries.
The unit cools as expected, I'm very happy with the performance.
Setup is easy, and the window fitting peices and ventilation hose are well made.
Portable units are always louder compared to window units but I didn't personally find the noise or fans too loud.
Also, the wheels roll smoothly and don't feel like they will break.
Overall, I would recommend this unit. I was really surprised at how nice it looks and how easy the hoses and filters are to install/remove. The self-moving vents close themselves when the unit is powered off and overall has a premium feel.
If you are new to the Danby brand like I was, I'd say give them a chance as they've been making cooling products for quite some time, and I'm very, very glad I spent the extra cash and avoided the cheaper Insignia brand Best Buy sells.

Good portable AC, a bit noisy

Just received this Danby 10000BTU from Bestbuy with $150 off, very fast delivery, even much faster than schedule at beginning.
This Danby portable AC have a very sleek design, fit and finish very good, nice packaging, installation super easy, almost just plug and play.
Machine work sufficiently, make my 150 sq.ft bedroom cool down easily in the heatwave days.
The only drawback of this machine is the noise, air flow noise is acceptable but its compressor works periodically and whenever it work, it create a bit noise and loud.
Generally valuation, i grade this machine 4 star. Worth for purchasing.

very annoying flapping sound

This started out pretty quiet on all modes, but now it sounds like a flag flapping inside a wind tunnel with the AC on. we have used it for about 3 hours total. I think it is probably just built extremely cheaply.

Far too noisy

It cools the room just fine but the unit is way too noisy. It sounds like a vacuum cleaner on max. I measure the noise level and it averages at around 67 to 70 decibels, that's louder than a conversation and a tad quieter than loud music.
Not sure if I got a lemon or if this is normal for this particular product.

Compact, attractive and simple design. It's sturdy and well made. This Danby A/C is one of few with an a long enough kit for patio door installation. For apartment dwellers this is sometimes desired. Our best placed windows don't always open.
The unit can be installed in any horizontal or vertical slide window as well. The window kit is sturdy, thick and good quality. The hose snaps in. Easy.
It works really well. I like it cold so keep it on high speed with vents moving. The temp adjustment is clear and pretty accurate. It's a bit noisy - but has not failed me over two summers. There are 3 filters to clean, so keep the back accessible. The multiple filters have kept my unit cooling well. I often leave it on for extended periods. Mine has never leaked any water or required draining.
It's probably not the coldest or the best, but it's a great AC for the price. It cools the space it claims. It's not ugly. Mine handles 300 square feet in an open space.

It’s very easy to install.
Better to have a Hacksaw ready when installing it in the window (apartment’s) coz it took me longer using my butcher’s knife lol
Once that part is done,5-10mins ,DONE!
Quiet and VERY cold!! I only use our comforter during winter nights..but with this AC in my room,it’s like Winter all over again !!

Broken within one week of use
on August 16, 2022

This AC unit worked fine for the very first week of use. It cooled down my room really fast and the noise level was acceptable. But… after a week of use, the AC unit made an unusual super loud sound and lasting all the way when it’s on and it woke me up in the mid of night… I have to turn it off no matter how warm the room is. Eventually found out the roller in the machine was broken… I mean this is a brand new AC how come it broke within a week of use? Was it already broken and Best Buy just sold it as new? Don’t recommend this Danby brand portable AC and don’t trust Best Buy anymore… very disappointing!
