I only take the time to write this because I am so satisfied with this Danby. Your quality control restores my faith in American Standards, if even in a foreign nation. I spent months trying to learn about humidifiers, from CR & any other cyber source that I could find. Then, walking stores, its price was the best; it was a roll of the dice, frankly. I can do damage to a wrecking ball without trying; this is better made than I expected, ' has tight connections, easy to operate. It's first start happened easily, without the tedium of reading instructions. Its humidity % reads high at start, but after a short period it settles down to within 1 % of a comparing hygrometer's reading. If it didn't say "Made in China" I would think that such quality was made in the United States. It inhibits mold in the basement. I drain it into gallon bottles & use the water, or drain it into a floor drain. This is a compromise rather than buy an American Made unit costing hugely more; I prefer this Danby !! It has run flawlessly for months. I turn it on & off manually., being a careful caretaker, visiting it often..

Over the past 5 years I've tried various brands of dehumidifiers and none of them have lasted over a year without running into problems. The Danby model however, has been a very reliable unit and does a great job of keeping our basement dry.

Easy to set up EXCEPT has to be too close to drainage source! 6’ recommended. Big negative. Also, runs a lot- turns on for a minute then off. Turns back on within two minutes. Etc. this on and off is constant. However it does a good job. We thought our electric bill would decrease as our dehumidifier we replaced was old. It did not

Had initial difficulty using the appliance. I found the instructions for use confusing. After several telephone calls to Darby and getting advice I was able to use the device. While I'm not using it now (no longer summer), I found it best to have it run continuously. Once achieving the desired level of humidity, I would turn it off. My age (81 years) made it difficult to master the printed instructions.
