The Danby ENERGY STAR 50-Pint Dehumidifier has been great! It has kept our downstairs area comfortable and dry for about eight years! Just purchased a second unit!

well featured machine

The unit has a lot of features, including 3 ways to handle water removal (bucket, hose, or pump), and a variable humidity level option dependent upon the room temperature. I've only had it in operation for a week, but it is very effective at reducing humidity. It generates a lot of water, and measurably has reduced the humidity in the room, as verified by my own humidity meter (the unit itself measures the humidity too). It is pretty quiet, and was recommended for being one of the better electrical efficiency models.
On the negative side, the instruction manual needs more diagrams to show how to hook up the drain hose and the pump hose options.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Stops working right after the 2 year warranty ends

This dehumidifier was a bit loud and it turned on and off a lot. (More so than other dehumidifiers I've owned.) But hey at least it worked... Until shortly after the 2-year warranty ended, that is. And it was only used 6 months total in the summers over those two years. Now it "runs" but doesn't dehumidify at all. It just heats up the room and wastes electricity. I won't be buying a Danby again if they only last 2 seasons.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice dehumidifier unit

Very nice looking unit and quiet operating. Optional 3 ways to emty tank is very handy, especially the internal pump for me. I have it set up to empty in a perimeter basement floor drain.

Nice but fails after a year

Works great for a year and then freezes over. Good customer service on replacement but would prefer less cheap versions.
