Had high hopes, didn't deliver.

I have owned the 1517vsm for about 2 years now. At first it seemed to perform well. I cleaned the filter weekly even if the filter light wasn't on. Then over time, it seemed like the different fan speeds seemed to slowly all be the same. I get the same output whether I choose F1, F2 or F3. Therefore, it doesn't move enough air to cool properly and ices over constantly even if I don't set the temp too low. They said to clean the evaporator, which I did and no difference. I then had it professionally done. It's looks really clean and the tech said it was good to go. But still doesn't cool or perform as well as an older, much smaller, much cheaper unit we have in another bigger room. If the fan speeds were representative of the display, it might work better. Too bad as this LG cost a lot and I really wanted to like it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 900 Sq ft apartment with the brightest, hottest full sun West facing windows, with full exposure from 1pm till sunset, the hottest time of day, bottom floor of a two floor complex. It literally had been able to cool my entire apartment on the Eco setting alone, fan speed 3/3. It was beyond a life saver during the hottest times of our past 2022 very hot summer and my electricity bill only was up to $55 dollars or so per month, mid late summer, since I only have it on briefly for the hottest hours of the day and then turned it off after sunset. It has just been such a blessing. The fan noise it medium, but it purely is what it is, it cools my apartment well. I actually like the noises, it makes it feel nostalgic, haha.
