I purchased the air conditioner back in August but just had it put in the window here in December two weeks before Christmas. Don't know how we'll it works or cools because I haven't tried it yet it's been putting in the winter.
Pros: ease of use, Features/Settings, Performance, Quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Eleven days ago I bought and installed this 14,000 BTU window unit air conditioner to replace a much smaller and and quite old (perhaps 10 years) LG 5,000 BTU air conditioner that has worked well albeit noisily over the years.
I will start with saying that I am very pleased with my new air conditioner. I've been thinking of buying this unit since last summer. I use it to keep my master bedroom and bathroom at 68-70 degrees. I live in central Texas. Currently it is late March, 2020 so it will be a couple more months before this air conditioner is challenged with the oppressive heat and humidity of a Texas summer.
The air conditioner is very quiet. I am hardly aware it is running. It does a great job keeping the bedroom and bathroom cool. The combined floor space is about 450 square feet, two exterior walls, two windows, and ~10 foot ceilings. The television is almost always running even at night. My wife and I and our dachshund occupy the room at night.
I installed the air conditioner by myself except for asking my wife to assist me with lifting the air conditioner from the floor to a worktable I had set up indoors in front of the window where the air conditioner was to be installed. Installation was easy - a light weight cabinet is first secured to the window into which the rest of the air conditioner is inserted.
The installation instructions were adequate although I recommend reading each step of the instructions very carefully multiple times to make certain you understand what needs to be done. Sort of a variation of the old adage "Measure twice, cut once."
I think there is a misprint in the instructions on page 12, step 1 of "Cabinet Installation." There is an instruction which I will quote: "Carefully place the cabinet in the window and align the center hole on the cabinet bottom front with the bracket using a carriage bolt and a lock nut." The instruction makes sense about centering the cabinet in the window except there is no bracket, carriage bolt, and lock nut. Even if these items existed there is no place where they would be attached. I chose to ignore this area of confusion and continued to follow the Cabinet Installation instructions without any further issues.
Of note, because of the design of my window frame I used duct tape along the bottom of the cabinet to help seal the cabinet to the window frame and hopefully prevent air and moisture leaks, and insect intrusion. I applied the duct tape before sliding the air conditioner into the cabinet. The duct tape cannot be seen.
I tried connecting the air conditioner to my Wi-Fi. I downloaded to my iPhone the current app needed to interface with the air conditioner. The app recognizes that the air conditioner exists on my Wi-Fi network but the app will not connect to the air conditioner. To me this is a minor issue. The air conditioner has a remote control that works perfectly. The Wi-Fi connectivity would be cool but not worth worrying about. More of a gimmick than a useful feature.
I definitely would recommend this air conditioner to a friend. Yes, it is a little pricey but if it lasts 6-10 years I will be very happy.
It didn't come with a Manuel and it fills up with water

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using it for about a month and seems to be holding it's own. Generally gets to temperature in a pretty quick amount of time and retains temperature as needed. It is definitely quiet compared to my old A/C which is useful since I work from home and it is only about 8 feet from my desk. Haven't tried the Smart capability yet but will be doing so soon.
Pros: Performance

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you need superior cooling power but don't have access or capabilities to a 240v outlet, this is definitely the one to go for. Noise level is similar to a vornado fan on 1. Super efficient & effective. Wifi capabilities are a helpful feature, especially if you want to cool the house off before you get home. I personally leave mine set at 72 & never touch it. House is always comfortably cool.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After two weeks of operation we got Error Code CH 26 *seized compressor. Installing the unit cost more the the purchase price so repairing it won't be trivial at all. Can't get a human from LG to talk to. Customer support chat kept asking the same questions then stopped answering altogether.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaced the two dated small air conditioners with this one. More energy efficient and will cool down our whole first floor on its own.
